Personally I like the nrl idea of taking games to the affected (Terry) communities .... putting money directly into the hands of local businesses and supporting jobs etc. I don’t give to charities as a rule but will make a point of hitting some towns for a stay and splashing some cash where I can.
Freddo. I'm pretty sure you need another spell in the jungle pal. And it's not even footy season. Gonna be a long year my friend.

Stay well and kind regards to Mrs Fred. God knows she'll need it.!!!

That’s a good idea I reckon. East v West. Do you think they would try that in the nrl as well one day?
Can't see that happening until they put NRL teams in Western Australia and South Australia. Not enough good players from there at the moment.

Could maybe do it in New Zealand. South Island vs North Island.

But AFL could definitely do and an Eastern States vs Western States rivalry.

At least it would be a decent test match for people that like AFL. Better than their international rules thing with Ireland, which nobody cares about or takes seriously anyway.

Have never been really interested in these silly Victoria vs Allies or All Stars concepts.
It's not S.O.O. It's S.O.O. selection maybe but not S.O.O. There is no state "Allies".

Fortunately we have state Vs state in the AFL every week.
That's why S.O.O. died in the AFL.

NRL S.O.O. is two teams, three games, every year - how boring. Talk about flogging something to death.

Very popular though. I think the afl would love to have SoO be as successful or anything as successful as SoO for that matter. My only concern is it does impact the integrity of home and away season and would play it outside of the nrl season.

The AFL did have SOO, they invented it and it was highly successful.
Having so many interstate teams killed the demand for an AFL SOO.

Nah.....Nah......Victoria's dominance killed it. The interstate teams theory was put out by fumblehouse because they don't wanna be seen to fail...….at anything. But they did...…..and tried to cover it up per fumble propaganda 101.

You reckon. I remember the vice being beaten many a time but it may be a bit fuzzy.

My memory of SoO was the clubs didn’t want their players playing ... I remember every year a number of stars would all have injuries. The thing was, this was true, they had injuries but if it was a club game they would play but saw SOO as a chance to give it a rest. If I recall rules had to be brought in requiring an League doctor to sign off and big fines if they missed without a valid reason. Also players getting injured was a real issue as well. Club games and a premiership was the golden chalice and whilst soo was desired the cost on the premiership season was potentially too great.

SOO It's back, alive and kicking !
Half Time score
All-stars. 68
Big V. 62
The game quality has exceeded expectations and played with a fair amount of pride, passion and intensity. All this for a good cause.
Should be an entertaining second half.

You think - the quality is good but the intensity isn't great - which conversely has allowed for some good passages of play. It is very much a friendly and a clear lack of vigor - a gentlemen's agreement if you will not to go the body or tackle to hard.

let's just say where there is a chance to line a player up - in a normal game would be a hit - but havent seen any big hits or hard tackles. Understandable as its just a game for charity.

What happened to the All Stars, they looked unbeatable early on.
Final score
Big V 154
All Stars 108
Last quarter was a bit of an exhibition
One big crunch tackle towards the end.
This concept could work once every few years perhaps for a different charity.
