Re: Rugby is coming again!
Club Union has always had a following in NSW and QLD (add the ACT) and a few of us with a brain cell still working stated near 2 decades ago at sites like LU ect that they have something there to work with that has all the makings of a professional sport yet they were too stupid and up their own arses to do anything with it because Rugby League done it beforehand, and if RL done it, it can't be good. Oh and before the thickheaded FW turns up, you can add ya precious VFL into the mix.

Re: Rugby is coming again!
apparently RA will be combining both state comps as 2 conferences
i just cannot see this working.. (they dont rate as it is) how will 2 conferences be better.
(also following on from the Masters article.)
wanting FTA to broadcast Super Rugby Games on saturday's
currently the rusted on fans would already have foxtel.
and the games on saturday night primetime are struggling to get 50K - 60k for local games.
FTA would be lucky to double that figure on the main channel.

Yep. I watch as much Shute Shield live as I do NRL. It's a good day out. And at my club you can watch from the clubhouse, have a few drinks, and catch whatever NRL game is on. Perfect!!!!ParraEelsNRL wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 11:31 amClub Union has always had a following in NSW and QLD (add the ACT) and a few of us with a brain cell still working stated near 2 decades ago at sites like LU ect that they have something there to work with that has all the makings of a professional sport yet they were too stupid and up their own arses to do anything with it because Rugby League done it beforehand, and if RL done it, it can't be good. Re: Rugby is coming again!
Agreed. They're going to replace the idiot NRC with the equally idiotic 2 conferences BS. They should play a full season of Shute Shield and Brissy comp and then have a 'super 8' playoff series for best domestic team in Aust. Get the top 4 sides from each comp. Make it a knockout over only 3 weeks & hold the super final at the home ground of one of the participants. That'd get a bit of interest going!!!leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 3:43 pmapparently RA will be combining both state comps as 2 conferences

I like the national comp featuring traditional teams like Randwick. All have rusted on supporters plus based in the biggest markets for game; Sydney & Brisbane. Too bad nswrl never merged with brl back in the day.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 3:43 pmapparently RA will be combining both state comps as 2 conferences

Re: Rugby is coming again!
Yep, it wouldn't be hard to have the top 6 teams from Sydney and top 5 from Brisbane join together with the Force, Rebels, Brumbies, Newcastle and Wollongong to have a meaningful National comp. Not all Sydney and Bris sides could join as quite a few play out of cow paddocks or something resembling them. Get the best teams and build them up. That would be a decent 16 team comp.AngloFootballLeague wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 10:57 amI like the national comp featuring traditional teams like Randwick. Re: Rugby is coming again!
Yeah RA behind the ball again..
the big issue they put this comp together..
when the previous comp did not rate..
so are we saying the Networks that purchase are taking a big risk this may take off.
getting the rights should be free, and you still will not make any money out of it in that slot,

Re: Rugby is coming again!
That's if they even know what AFL is at all. Didn't Tom Jones, who is a Welsh Rugby fan call AFL Rugby when attending the AFL grand final.leagueiscrap wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 10:10 amRugby has never died it’s still ist surviving and doubt anything will change!AngloFootballLeague wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:05 pmhttps://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-unio ... 53y2n.html
Big deal to happen? Gotta hurt afl who have been death riding sport in hope of getting foothold in Sydney.
Afl hasn’t exclusively been riding the death nail of old Union as league has been as well!
I mean they are near identical games game and most rugby fans are over whelmed and can’t keep up understanding afl
