Freemantle -
“We look forward to continuing to build on our strong financial foundation, highlighted by being one of only a handful AFL clubs to be debt free with positive cash reserves,” Garlick said.

Everyone has been bagging the AFL for getting government handouts, but a number of councils and other bodies have said that the NRL and FFA and their clubs simply werent doing the right amount of diligence in the area. Now everyone wants in on the government money, and thats fair enough too, but if you never ask you never get. And then sometimes you ask and the money gets handed to people based on electorate and the party in power regardless of your qualification....
I think the AFL were just ahead of the game in regards to working with government.

NRL has finally got its head out of the sand and now you are seeing big money spent.

lol
afl clubs have never received anywhere near the amount of money from governments than NRL clubs constantly do!
look at club home grounds and Penriths 24 million dollar grant for starters
then take in to the pathetic crowd numbers and what the nrlol clubs do with the money! build an under ground car park with the 24 million fo their mini casino not its intended purposes!

there is no code that has anywhere near the amount of hand outs that the nrl continuously gets
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

Thats simply not true. Tonnes of Goverment money has gone into AFL clubs training facilities over the years. Just off the top of my head

Arden Street (North) - $10 million
Princes Park (Carlton) - $40 million
Lathlain Park (WCE) - $20 million
Cockburn (Freo) - $90 million
Tullamarine (Ess) - $10 million
Moorabin (St K) - $45 million
Seaford (St K) - $10 million
Springfield (Bris) - $30 million+

This doesnt include Stadium specific to clubs - Geelong (190m), Suns (115m)
what's the Carlton one? I thought they paid for it them selves through the John Elliot days?

the Fremantle one is an open community facility, public aquatic centre, gym and ovals etc
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

Hes not on the money at all. He has literally no knowledge of anything here, and Im sitting on 12 years of club annual reports and 30 years of AFL ones. Hes literally got nothing but a "feeling". And you've also got a feeling havent you? you keep going on about this bit where I just " have opinions like the rest of the mugs here", and Ive never claimed otherwise. I sense a little bit of jealousy in you, young padawan.
Truth is most afl clubs would be out the league without a portion of broadcasting money - same thing you bag NRL clubs for.
