2020 Battle of the Codes .

Post by AFLcrap1 »

As RL basks in its gold medal performances of the last few years we now turn to 2020.
So my predictions are
Most watched sport..RL again
Highest rating sport program ..RL again .
Biggest crowd Aflol
Most memberships afl .

Above is an example of te difference between the two sets of fans .
We can admit that afl easily wins crowds & memberships ..no arguments .
Yet when we move onto ratings the but but but but afl brigade start with the usual crap .

Lol accepting silver does not come easy for those in the cult .

Yes agree. I think SoO is a saving grace for rl. If you compared afl to nrl would be interesting

here is an interesting question for you.

if the NRL got rid of SOO / Exhibition Games and Internationals..

and solely focused on the NRL competition and expanding this.

would it be bigger than the current NRL, with all resources into one tier of league ?

Doubt it. Rl is virtually non existent at grassroots outside qld and New South Wales so it would take a lot of work to build from that low base. It has gained some interest re say the storm in Victoria I think but grassroots ... it is miniscule. Perth does slightly better but still minor. The afl had an advantage I qld due to it being established sometime ago and lots of expats. Even there still only shown on alternate channels etc. but I do think the nrl should have a strategic plan however addressing this.... 100 year plan maybe ... but longest journey begins with the first step hey.

Fred with his fake news again. Quote "RL is virtually non existent at grassroots outside QLD & NSW"

So I am guessing all the new players moving up the reserve grades representing PNG Kamuls in Papua New Guinea, Wellington Orcas & Otago Whalers in New Zealand. Are all from NSW or Qld?

Tell me Fred, how did countries like New Zealand & England win Rugby League world cups with no grassroots?
Did they get their players from Eastern States in Australia did they?

I can safely say AFL has no decent grassroots outside Australia. Because if AFL did. They would be able to have overseas teams that could challenge Australia in test matches.

Leroy NRL’s question was specifically about the NRL, you know the major Rugby League in Australia, Fred’s comments were in response to that question, and therefore limited to the Australian situation.
For anybody to use international examples to counter a purely domestic discussion and scenario shows, either a total lack of comprehension, or a desperate need to grasp at straws, any straws, to support their irrelevant argument.

There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

Yes you are both correct. I also like how talking about international doesn’t actually address the point made ... re rl bring virtually non existent outside nsw and qld at grassroot level. This seems like a topic many rl zealots refuse to acknowledge or have trouble acknowledging .... they can’t deny it so it seems to sit uneasy.

Fred the reason you don't like talking about the international game is because the international game is non existing for AFL.. =D

You said Rugby League has nothing as far as grassroots outside NSW & QLD. You never mentioned in Australia at any time lol..

Don't try to backpeddle out of your bullshit claim.

The facts are Rugby League has 28 first grade clubs in 5 countries and that is not even including PNG as a reserve grade club. Meanwhile AFL can't even get decent grassroots support in not 1 single other country.

AFL can't even field a competitive reserve grade club outside Australia.
Is actually very funny.
