Yes, We have 7,9 and 10 all wanting to sign Rugby League. Also that link reaffirms that the NRL could produce there own matches.
While down South we have 400000 pissed off Asian camera men dazed & confused.

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
I reckon the AFL could afford to expand to 22 sides.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2020 1:34 pmall of these reports for Tassie to enter AFL over the next 5 -10 years looks pretty strong i recan..

22 teams.
22 games.
23 rounds with a bye for each side
Each team plays each other once, alternating home and away, 21 games.
An extra rival/derby round each year, 22 games in total.
Prime expansion teams.
First 2:
Tasmania: home games split between Hobart and Launceston.
Canberra/Albury: GWS should play all home games in Western Sydney if they want to establish a following in Western Sydney
3rd
Northern Australia Nomads, home games split evenly between Darwin, Townsville, Cairns with one game in Alice Springs, the other alternating between Rockhampton, Mackay and Port Moresby.
4th expansion team out of
Newcastle
North Sydney
Wollongong
WA 3
SA 3
Sunshine Coast
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
Take it easy for goodness sake, the football code doesnt have the talent to have that many teams yet, the only way any of the codes could be as big as that would need to take over the whole country and that isn't about to happen any time soon. The standard of the football whatever code would be absolute garbage. It's alright to have these codes wars and stuff, but be real about it. The AFL really needs to remove 1 of the vic clubs if it's going to expand again so soon, expanding again now would be a disaster and the game will take a massive hit. There just isn't the talent to do it esp for the AFL as they dont have another pro comp to pillage. The other codes could but they don't have the money. Just look at whats happened to Rugby Union out here.

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
The Northern thing will not work. I think when you consider expansion the AFL I think should steer clear of medium regional areas. I think they are too big for this. Geeking and Gold Coast are major cities. I think a third Sydney team is a must given the huge market there ... not regional team but sydney. I think they may explore Newcastle though. I think if that happen you may see a tassie side come in but this is not a decision based on good business but more sentiment I feel and to complete national coverage. A Canberra team is also needed and see this as more of a priority over Canberra as it is a growth market. Somewhere down the line a third south aussie team and maybe wa team but these are more icing on cake rather than required. Cancers and Sydney are the growth markets.

I recan Tassie is a lock.
after that what will the AFL want
Expansion or capturing more of a market for dollars..
ACT ?
PERTH 3
i cannot see anywhere else working.. over the next 20 years.

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
Perth could accomodate a team, both the eagles and freo are financially secure the eagles the is not other team close.
Both team are well supported but WA is an AFL mad state with population expected to double over the next few decades
Tassie I just can’t see happening as their is no real economic or population growth and vastly spread out
Sydney would be the next team imo but wouldn’t be for another decade allowing GWS to mature and grow a stable fan base

Number 1 in half a country. With Soccer killing AFL in participation numbers in every demographic.
Not to mention no hope of international growth for AFL. A tried and tested failure in New Zealand and China.
