So for about $200M+ investment the AFL have leveraged 20k more viewers in Austalia's biggest city for their biggest event. Seems like an excessive spend for a very small return.
And yes I know the mess was an ugly flogging that would have had some effect on the numbers.

Bigger audience allows you to command greater broadcast money. Hence Sydney has a second team while Tasmania will play in vfl.The_Wookie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 2:12 pmall that money is not for a grand final, its not even all for television. ffs.AngloFootballLeague wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 2:10 pmPretty much. No. But definitely indicative of support, interest and investment payoff. Particularly in light of a week of incredible Sydney media coverage of the Ginats. Fluff stories, feel good fillers, baby pics, mummy pics, fake converts "true stories", front page coverage, back page coverage......... lololololololololololol.The_Wookie wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 1:58 pmyes because all that money is just for a grand fina.Terry wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 1:02 pm This years AFL GF rated about 20k higher in Sydney than last years. No mention of Mummy's drug snorting. Toby's 17 visits to the AFL judiciary or Victoria's magistrates court for a drunken assault. Beautiful stories of Craig Lambert looking after the kiddies. No mention of his 12 month ban for hiding one of the kiddies so he couldn't be drug tested after a weekend bender.
Yep. After the hundreds of millions of $$$$ spent and soft media coverage the GF was a massive fail in Sydney. This surrender will live with the Ginats for a very long time.

Sounding rather delusional and attempting to trott out the over the popularity of the gws and lack of popularity of the Minnowbourne Storm there Terry!Terry wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 7:59 pmNo. But definitely indicative of support, interest and investment payoff. I agree with you Fred. If that had been played at night it would have got over 4m viewers.

And heaps more people watching an arvo AFL game in Brisbane than the NRL on Saturday night prime time. Go figure eh?
"One in every 24 Australians is now a member of an AFL club, a sign that the national reach of Australian football has never been greater," League CEO Gillon McLachlan said.
