Great news for the Giants.

30,000 STRONG AS GIANTS CELEBRATE HISTORIC MILESTONE

In just eight short years, the GIANTS have reached a hugely significant milestone, passing 30,000 members for the first time.

Sitting at 30,004 members, the GIANTS have smashed last year’s mark of 25,527 ahead of Saturday afternoon’s blockbuster clash with Collingwood at GIANTS Stadium.

The 18 per cent increase takes the GIANTS to the second-highest membership tally across all codes in New South Wales, only behind only the Sydney Swans and ahead of all NRL clubs.

In eight years the GIANTS have recorded a new membership milestone every season, starting with 10,241 members back in 2012.

Meanwhile membership record also smashed at the Sydney Swans according to club email I received today.

On behalf of everyone at the Sydney Swans, thank you for all you do for our club.

I’m thrilled to be able to announce that for the first time in Sydney Swans history we have reached 61,671 members, passing the previous membership record of 60,934 set last year.

Biggest membership based sporting clubs in NSW are AFL clubs.

I’m so impressed with my football club in breaking its membership record with over 61,671 members in a season where we won’t even play finals.

My god, I still remember the early 90s when we had less than 10,000 members.

And crowds have been good too for the Swans even though losing.
