Re: Fight Club - Football Crowds

The Gold Coast Titans should be under serious consideration for relocation to Brisbane, NSW coach Brad Fittler says.
The NRL wants to establish a second Brisbane team, with the Broncos holding a monopoly over Queensland's capital city.
While they would be loathe to give up their footprint on the Gold Coast, especially given the presence of a fledgling AFL team, the Titans sit last on the ladder and have seen their average crowd figure contract to about 11,000.
Coach Garth Brennan was sacked on Sunday after taking the team to a 4-12 record this season. They have been without $1 million per season halfback Ash Taylor since last month due to personal issues.
The club's head of performance and culture, rugby league Immortal Mal Meninga, will on Monday hand down a mid-season review into the club's issues; potentially ordering further change after Brennan was axed. Fittler said that the club may be best to make a fresh start.
"Are the Gold Coast a chance of moving a little bit north? Ipswich?" Fittler asked on The Sunday Footy Show.
"Why wouldn't the Gold Coast be the second Brisbane team? There's 4,000 people turn up to watch them each week. Let's not call it a success.
"They had a couple of good years at the start, without a doubt, and they played semi-finals. But it's far from a success."

The thing is when comparing the two it needs to be remembered the titans and sun’s are in rl heartland. Could you imagine this happening in Geelong if they put an nrl club there?Quolls2019 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 2:19 pmDisappointing for both Gold Coast clubs, I think the AFL will persevere a lot longer with the Suns, but they will need a lot more support on and off the ground.
As bad as the Suns crowd was it was bigger than Newcastle’s the week before.
Looks like a smaller than expected crowd at the MCG.

Fitler is like Johns. what they say in football terms, should not be given 2 cents worth...
He stated 4k turn up each week.
than the article points our they are avg almost 12k
( Titans moving to Brisbane) just a dumb comment..
The reason they are last>> Need a better roster and good coaching staff..
something they have lacked the past 7-8 years...

The % for expats living in geelong who are from QLD and NSW would be very very low..
however the Gold Coast is quite different>> made up of Queenslanders
and alot of NSW people and some Victorians
Both the suns and the titans both benefit from this>>
more so the Titans as Tv Ratings are quite good.
if a Team was placed in geelong you would not have that same thing as the G.C
my Example would be>> imagen a AFL team in Newcastle>>
that would be on Par with Geelong but double the population

I did notice the 4,000 reference, wondered if he had some inside info!!.
Their average is higher than St George and close to Cronulla, and they are in direct competition with an AFL team, but they seem to get more bad press than those mentioned.

Fair Point>>
when ya think about it, how more worse can it get for both of the clubs >>
they seem to be holding the Average attendance>> year after year..
be interesting to see How the two sides Popularity rised in Attendances in a good year Top 4 for example.

Here is an idea that should generate some spirited dialogue from both sides of the Barassi line.
play on alternate weekend and offer a joint membership at a reasonable discount.
Still need to fix the on ground issues.

I think if you take out home games in China and other areas the. Suns average is higher.

There ya Go A Huge Drop on Suns crowds in the space of the week.
8700 That is a 50% drop in numbers from previous game.
And the crowd was still almost on par for noise when the Crows Scored.
(what happened to all the Richmond fans ? that hang around after attending the previous week..
(my point proven Suns survive on away attendances at there own ground..
quite amazing really.
You’ll also find the Suns are ahead of the gold come titans in crowds this year
Suns 11685
Gold coke titans 11206
And my example was just shown..
Suns rely on away fans to get that average..
now go annoy someone else
And give your self a warning then a ban as isn’t rhatbwas it meant to happen to other members where they dribble on about wacky theory’s on crowds
Those are the stats and shows Suns are ahead the titans in what meant to be league heart land!
Before you attempt to throw in more but buts that the titans are on the bottom of the ladder! So are the Suns
