That may be true, a bit like Rugby League teams outside their traditional markets.
Case point, Toronto wolf pack in Canada are proped up by a group of ten wealthy tycoons, if some of them withdraw it's game over please turn out the lights when you leave.

The fact people like a sport enough to invest in it in a non traditional market says a lot.

Unfortunately for AFL nobody wants to invest in a lemon outside Australia. We all saw that with your China exhibition matches.

I already turned your lights out long before you replied :(/

You are completely wrong, where do you think the investment for the China matchs came from ?
You mentioned the word lemon, are you referring to RL ?
RL in North America, bit of a joke isn't it , Denver game promoter could not pay his bills, bailed out by NZ Rugby League.
I didn't want a crap name anymore !

Investment hey, a game played in a half empty 3rd world stadium that only Aussies turned up to? =D =D

I bet the Chinese were falling over themselves to invest in that

Seriously AFL embarrassed themselves with that event. There is no way you can sugar coat that AFL lemon.

As for Rugby League in North America. While not huge. I know that is that it is doing a lot better than any of AFLs efforts in other countries.

Show me an AFL team gaining new support overseas??
You sour AFL lemons have NOTHING

Toronto Wolfpack are 2 years old in a country with virtually no history of Rugby League.

Average kick per game is running about 19 for the NRL with the majority not being in general play, as in kick off, penalties and conversions.

Average in AFL is about 410, the large majority being in general play.

Isn’t football about the ball and the foot, you know, kicking?

Maybe one should be called “Throwball”

Think fumble ball is much better for afl
Seeing they have massive issues actually catching or holding it .

Considering a vast majority of players never kick the ball, "throwball is far more appropriate.
But in saying that how fucking funny is it whenOne of the human battering rams tries to kick the ball. Stick to face smashing lads.

I think that contested possessions in the Australian Rules may have led to the perception of “fumble ball”. And there are far more player on player contests in Rules than league.

It would be interesting to see how many average possessions there are in the average game for the 3 holding the ball codes. I could probably work it out for the AFL but I am unaware if NRL count the number of hand to hand passes?

Whilst looking for a few other stats I came across this.

Sporting news supplied some figures in 2017 on the distance covered by the average Australian footballer by code by game:

Super Rugby: 7kms a game
NRL: 7.2kms a game
A-League: 10kms a game
AFL:13kms a game

Rugby League, not a kicking game, comparatively not much of a running game either.

Pal, you're way behind the times. I made a forensic examination of the most prominent aspect of AFL......yep.......the fumble........a couple of years ago on this very site.

I had volunteers covering games counting fumbles per team. And wow!!!!!! What a massive task that was..... It was like counting grains of sand on Bondi beach. There's so many it's almost impossible.

In the end my peer reviewed research revealed between 800 to 1000 fumbles per game. About 500 for each team.

So by your count there is 410 kicks in a game of AFL V 1000 fumbles. As such I now declare the clear winner is the Australian Fumbling League. Yep......aptly named for the mess that is fumbleball!!!

I did do a search for tackles all I found was stats for missed tackles, I was a bit surprised that they wanted to point out their own mistakes, that is what us fumblers are here for.

Tackles vary from player to player to position to position

the Average for the Forwards would be around 30-40 tackles per game
the Average for the Backs can be anything (depending on the attack of the other team
some will only make 8 tackles some will make 25 tackles
Per Game there are usually stand outs with 4 or 5 players making over 50 tackles in that game.
again it can all come down to the style of the game.

Let me tell you, making tackles and getting smashed in a tackle is physically tolling..
as you are constantly getting hit and up and down quite alot..

So getting back on topic

Australian Rules: lots of kicking. Soccer: lots of kicking. rl - minimal kicking. RU: Minimal kicking althouh a little more than rl.

Goal Scoring:
AFL - major score only achieved by foot by attacking team..
Soccer: Major score can occur by anyone who takes ball over opposition goal line
rl: Majoe score occurs by grounding a ball by hand over a try line that is the width of the field.
RU: same as RL.

So which has more entitlement to be called "football" based around what happens on the ground - Soccer, AFL? definitely not RL and RU - but it is okay if they do.
