from that one test
a few ODis
some t20s
and some shield games

as oppose to the swans 11 home games and possible finals games to a 30k average crowd

NFI at all as per usual Leroy
lol you complete freak..

do some research
Cricket brings in more money at all levels to the SCG

than the Sydney Swans do. :thumbleft:

As one test and some shorter formats of the game don’t make that much money
The move is a major deviation from the stance taken by former Trust chairman Rodney Cavalier, who declared the historic ground would never bow to the demands of the AFL by switching to drop-in wickets. The issue remains a highly sensitive and difficult one for the Trust and its members.

It is the strongest indication yet the Trust is considering the needs of major tenant the Sydney Swans, who signed a 30-year lease in 2014 to play all home games at the venue from 2017.

Cricket is the major driver of revenue at the SCG with the five days of the Sydney Test and the Sydney Sixers' Big Bash League games alone outperforming the 11 home and away games the Swans play.

I don't reply to that poster .

You are right ,sokka is popular all over ..doesn't make it a national game .
Afl is far more popular in the southern states where it originated .
Hence southern
RL is King in the northern states.
It's not hard to understand ...unless you're a brainwashed fumbler..

do some research
Cricket brings in more money at all levels to the SCG

than the Sydney Swans do. :thumbleft:
Where are you getting the research from
As one test and some shorter formats of the game don’t make that much money
when you take into account
1 test match = 5 days
handful of ODI and T20's
plus BIG BASH>

than corporates and members which is expensive for a day at the cricket.

Cricket is the prime money maker for the SCG Trust.

11 AFL games just do not cut the $$
Citation for that? Number of event days is pretty much the same for the AFL and Cricket. Annual Reports dont specifiy who pays what.

Yeah be interesting to see something other than a cricket tragic journos opinion on this matter. Seems odd that the AFL attracts more spectators to the SCG than cricket but somehow brings in less money. Like you, I could not find any breakdowns in the SCG Trust annual report. :hmm:

"One in every 24 Australians is now a member of an AFL club, a sign that the national reach of Australian football has never been greater," League CEO Gillon McLachlan said.

Okay. Point number 2. Afl is dominant (or king) in Western Australia . Not a southern state. Aussie Rules also dominant in NT. Again, as the name notes... not a southern state. So yes, rl May be king in most of nsw (not near border of vic.. e.g Riverina) Aussie Rules is king in the south, in the west, and in parts of the north. Rl would love to have the saturation Aussie Rules has in non traditional states. You can go pretty much everywhere and play Aussie Rules. Broken Hill for example is all Aussie Rules ... not southern.

So to recap .. WA and NT are not considered southern states.

Yes I have heard of soccer, and if they ever start referring to soccer as a southern sport they would have a good argument against that.... just like Aussie Rules.

Yeah I think this is what gets them so sulky. Australian Football, although being a long way back, at least has a presence in League states, I think it's a main contributor as to why they're so spiteful and sooky when it comes to the big bad AFL.

Does RL even have a comp in Victoria?
The irrelevance down here, even after the Storms remarkable dominance and collection of all time superstars, really seems to get under the skin of the Northern League fan I think.

Never realised quite how much hate there was for AFL from our Northern friends.

Where are you getting the research from
As one test and some shorter formats of the game don’t make that much money
when you take into account
1 test match = 5 days
handful of ODI and T20's
plus BIG BASH>

than corporates and members which is expensive for a day at the cricket.

Cricket is the prime money maker for the SCG Trust.

11 AFL games just do not cut the $$
Citation for that? Number of event days is pretty much the same for the AFL and Cricket. Annual Reports dont specifiy who pays what.
It was stated by Rodney Cavalier. You know, the bloke who was on the SCG board for 18 years and chairman for 14. There is some chance he would know.

Yeah be interesting to see something other than a cricket tragic journos opinion on this matter. Seems odd that the AFL attracts more spectators to the SCG than cricket but somehow brings in less money. Like you, I could not find any breakdowns in the SCG Trust annual report. :hmm:

I dunno beatup but it seems pretty clear to me. A game of fumbling goes for 3 excruciating hours. A test cricket match goes for 7+ hours X 5 days if played to the end. For the sake of the argument lets say it's 30 hours.

That's the time equivalent of 10 games of painful fumbling. The swans play 11 home games per year. Add in ODI's, BBL & T20 internationals for cricket. Obviously there is massively more game time for cricket to make revenue. I.E. booze, food, merchandise etc etc etc.

Pretty simple stuff pal!!!
