SCG attendances according to the SCG Trust annual report:

Cricket - 371,470
AFL - 421,838

SYDNEY SWANS AVERAGE HOME GAME ATTENDANCE

35,153

LARGEST OF ANY SPORTING TEAM IN SYDNEY

https://www.scgt.nsw.gov.au/media/4057/ ... report.pdf

Oh and yeah this seems relevant to the debate:
While the AFL has been the prime mover in urging reform, the other codes are close behind. When Sydney FC played on the ground last season, the pitch square was so hard and slippery that they decided to take their games elsewhere. The NRL, which has had so much else go its way (a couple of billion dollars’ worth of government expenditure for a start), is keeping a lower profile, but league players have had their heads slammed against that cricket pitch for more than a hundred years. Greater awareness of concussion is going to form a compelling part of the case for laying softer turf in the middle of the ground.

yeah im probably not going to do anything you say KE. so here we are.
Meanwhile this thread is absolutely blazing along. Pretty much every active member has posted numerous times and you, with ur admin badge, called it a waste of space and told a relatively new member to go get fucked on ur first post in without addressing one piece of the topic. [-X

So yeah I don’t give two shits if you’re prob not gunna do anything I say, the facts are with me and you sir need to pickup yer game...that’s a fact too

And that’s all I’ll write about this, I think we both know where we stand. Would be great if you grew a set and recognised ur poor post but cowards will be cowards. I’m gunna enjoy this fantastic thread now :)

The move is a major deviation from the stance taken by former Trust chairman Rodney Cavalier, who declared the historic ground would never bow to the demands of the AFL by switching to drop-in wickets. The issue remains a highly sensitive and difficult one for the Trust and its members.

It is the strongest indication yet the Trust is considering the needs of major tenant the Sydney Swans, who signed a 30-year lease in 2014 to play all home games at the venue from 2017.

Cricket is the major driver of revenue at the SCG with the five days of the Sydney Test and the Sydney Sixers' Big Bash League games alone outperforming the 11 home and away games the Swans play.

than corporates and members which is expensive for a day at the cricket.

Cricket is the prime money maker for the SCG Trust.

11 AFL games just do not cut the $$
Citation for that? Number of event days is pretty much the same for the AFL and Cricket. Annual Reports dont specifiy who pays what.
Yeah be interesting to see something other than a cricket tragic journos opinion on this matter. Seems odd that the AFL attracts more spectators to the SCG than cricket but somehow brings in less money. Like you, I could not find any breakdowns in the SCG Trust annual report. :hmm:

By Southern you must be meaning south of Cape York
Ever heard of soccer?
When soccer gets the crowds Aussie Rules does and membership then maybe you may have a point.

Lol
Excatly mate .
I don't reply to that poster .
He's a piece of shit human being .

You are right ,sokka is popular all over ..doesn't make it a national game .
Afl is far more popular in the southern states where it originated .
Hence southern
RL is King in the northern states.
It's not hard to understand ...unless you're a brainwashed fumbler..
Okay. Point number 2. Afl is dominant (or king) in Western Australia . Not a southern state. Aussie Rules also dominant in NT. Again, as the name notes... not a southern state. So yes, rl May be king in most of nsw (not near border of vic.. e.g Riverina) Aussie Rules is king in the south, in the west, and in parts of the north. Rl would love to have the saturation Aussie Rules has in non traditional states. You can go pretty much everywhere and play Aussie Rules. Broken Hill for example is all Aussie Rules ... not southern.

So to recap .. WA and NT are not considered southern states.
