Yep
So full of their own self importace that they think history ..heritage etc should be discarded for their wishes .
This is why they are despised by plenty in the Northern states .
CRicket is the closest thing to being the national sport of Aust yet this southern mob think they are more important than a game that brings Aust together to cheer their national team .( lolsomething these southern hicks can't experience with their sport).
Sô fuck off Gil

But afl is not confined to southern states. Aussie Rules is followed and played all over the country. In large numbers too ... something that can’t be said for rl.

Fred, you continually use this 'logic' to overstate the importance of fumbleball. Yep AFL has bigger participation numbers than tackle RL. But so does soccer ..........and how they do go in popularity compared to RL? Yep! Shithouse!!!!

Also: it's a proven fact that the AFL overstates their numbers in the educated northern states. Remember the Lawson report pal?? Propaganda anyone??

And the TV numbers for each code in their non core states is still very poor. The AFL rates slightly higher than RL but they're both continually poor. And the money thrown at the educated states by the AFL is infinitesimal compared to RL money in the bubble states. There is arguably more upside for RL in the bubble states than there is for AFL in the educated states.

So your 'argument' is invalid. Hope this helps Freddo!!!

A simple google search of clubs and leagues in qld and nsw will show you how prevelenf Aussie Rules is in those states. Compare these to rl in Victoria and Adelaide for instance.

I am just responding to the claims that afl is a southern game ... which it clearly is not. It is played right across the country in significant numbers. That’s simply a fact. Aussie Rules has always had a presence in these states and it grows. There is some upside for rl say in Victoria, but it is coming from a very very low base. 1 league .... 1..... in the whole metro and surrounding areas ... the only way is up indeed.

But to refer to Aussie Rules as a southern game is clearly not correct. Western Australia and NT are dominated by Aussie Rules

Yes Fred. Please re-read my post pal. All explained.

Also: soccer, hockey, hopscotch, badminton, long distance spitting etc etc etc are also played right across Australia. It's a meaningless point.

And yes Freddy........there are more AFL teams in the educated states than RL teams in the bubble states. And there are also more soccer teams than both in any state. Once again.....in the big scheme of things this is meaningless.

Time to move on Freddo boy!!!!

Looking at TV ratings AngloFL is a niche pastime in the northern states, yet the whitebreads claim it's national. Same mentality that thinks China is ready to get onboard.

how the fuck does that differ from almost any other post around here. Get your head out of your own ass.
Well firstly it doesn’t address the thread at all, not even on the level leagueiscrap can so its deadset pathetic to start. Secondly it completely dismisses any potential for discussion on what has been so far a very discussable and interesting topic so, especially for an admin of the site, it’s a shithouse and very out of touch comment to make.

So basically it differs because it’s below lic, who got banned for shithouse posting  give urself an uppercut and kindly stop spamming the boards with ur self obsessed drivel. We wanna talk footy here, k? ;)
I voiced my opinion on his thread choice, as anyone is entitled to. I didnt lock it or anything, youve gone off half cocked here you peanut
“Oh fuck off already. Not every whiny ass thought you have needs to be posted”

I’ve gone off half cocked? :(/

Firstly, picking up on a typo and not addressing the point .... the old default position . I’m full of oxycodene and a baileys but hey, I do typos all the time. I simply don’t care enough to proof lol

So if you want to discuss seriously ? We can do that. But only if you want.

The premise is or has been made that Afl and Aussie Rules is a southern state thing.

So let’s look at this one point at a time (you’re welcome)

1. The amount of Aussie Rules that is played in nsw and qld. Not A google of clubs and leagues will show at both senior and junior level Aussie Rules is played in significant numbers. Even if we take out the Gold Coast (with it’s significant Victorian and south Australian population and their kids and grandkids etc) and border towns at the nsw and Victorian border (where afl bleeds a long way into nsw (and not the other way around) the less “traditional” areas like Sydney or Brisbane have numerous clubs and leagues. Even regional areas like cairns, Mackay etc yo the coast have Aussie Rules leagues. Then there is Aussie Rules in schools with there being excellence programs in many schools and inter school sport teams and competitions. And finally, the amount of players from nsw and qld that have made AFL lists and played senior football supports that Aussie Rules has a significant presence in both states.

So I just can’t see how it can be said or alluded to that AFL is a southern sport just on those points alone. I agree ratings are not great as you point out however the amount of people playing and the number of clubs and leagues shows that there is a significant presence and interest.

There’s a hell of a lot of clubs and leagues for a niche market.
