Tassie, here we come....
Finally, a fair dinkum push for a Tassie team.
Nowhere deserves one more imo.
This is the time to show support.
Even you leaguers who've banged on how disgraceful it is that they don't have one. Which I agree with.
You too can help make this happen.

Almost three decades have passed since VFL became the AFL, creating a national league.
Yet our island state still doesn’t have a AFL or ALFW team.
Nationals Senator for Tasmania Steve Martin spoke about the need for a Tassie team in his inaugural speech and ever since being in Canberra has fought tooth and nail to get others on board.
The numbers speak for themselves. In Tasmania we have:
517
Tassie AFL teams
12,125
Tassie AFL players
106
Tassie AFL clubs
Tasmania has participation levels in AFL at levels similar to other foundation football states. We also boast around 35,000 non-playing participants who are actively involved in the game. Based on that figure, Tasmanian football is clearly the largest community group in our state by a significant margin.
Plus, we have almost 30 Tassie boys playing in the AFL Senior List across 13 different teams. See them all here >
We need people to join our virtual T23 team to show that all of Tasmania is behind having a AFL and AFLW team.

An AFL team in Tasmania would topple Gold Coast’s membership numbers within three months, according to Tasmanian Senator Steve Martin.
Martin is the man behind Tasmania’s charge for an AFL licence, launching the T23 website with the long-term aim of having a team in the Apple Isle by 2023.
AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said “the building blocks” for a Tasmanian team are in place and urged the state to rally by forming a membership group to put significant weight behind a future licence bid.
“Gold Coast Suns have 12,500 members from memory last year, I’m tipping that we can beat that and we can beat that within the next three months,” Martin told SEN’s KB and The Doc.
“It’s about having a call out to everyone around Australia. People look at Tasmania and say: ‘we’ve got a population of 530,000’, but what about the others that have left Tasmania and are now living on the eastern seaboard, over in Perth and in Adelaide? Which would be supportive of a Tasmanian team.
“We’re not taking those into account when we’re having these discussions.”
Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon also threw his support behind an AFL team in Tasmania after calling for the competition to be expanded to 19 or 20 clubs.
Listen to Steve Martin’s chat on SEN’s KB and The Doc with Kevin Bartlett and Nick Dal Santo in the player below

Re: Tassie, here we come....
I’d even consider watching a few games of AFL again if the AFL manned up and made a commitment to something that would actually mean something. You wouldn’t need no khunt or Izzy bs stunts, tho it was very amusing to see those nrl boys show AFL players what real athletes can do.
Unfortunately sport ol chap I don’t quite believe the brainstrust at AFL hq has a brain cell between em so at this point I think it’s a pipe dream.

At their peak, given a good couple of years as well on the list but only to be found out as to unco, to slow, to stupid, all around as plain to hopeless for AFL
To they both sign up for union and are breaking records in that code!

I always wondered the size of the pay rise those lads got when they hoped back to Rugby.
Considering they were smashing it in the AFL if must've been hefty.
Any idea?

Lol
Gilty .anyone who believes him needs help .
He's doing the AFL thing ..
Plenty of lip service to keep the brainwashed happy ..yet I'd say he has no fucking intention of admitting a Tas team on his watch .
Don't get me wrong .
Tas should have got a team long before the midgets or THUNS .
The only place on Earth wanting a team & they didn't get one .

Re: Tassie, here we come....
Perhaps I’ll think about it but...As I said the head honchos down at AFL hq have come up with bungle after bungle. They can’t see a positive and good opportunity when it stares em in the face the poor Duffas so i fear following that link you provided would be a waste of time. But you never know...crazier things have happened before.SportCapital wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 7:44 pmYou going to join the push ke?King-Eliagh wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 7:02 pmI’d even consider watching a few games of AFL again if the AFL manned up and made a commitment to something that would actually mean something. As for the nrl boys, well let’s be honest, they weren’t really smashing it in the AFL. But, they were lauded by AFL greats and they were competing at the AFL level and doing a better job of it than many many many other blokes who’d spent their whole lives training and playing

Great to hear.
Timing it for 2023 coincides with the end of Hawthorne and North's contacts with Tassie.
Proven support could be the clincher.

So who out of Great Waste of Space Midgets, Gold Coast Eclipsed Suns and the Brisbane Paddle Pop Wions are heading to Tassie?

Re: Tassie, here we come....
It is a No Brainer for the AFL to put a TEAM in Tassie.
6 games in Hobart
5 games in Launceston
Games will be sold out every match
Membership will eclipse GWS and SUNS 1st year..
Tv Ratings will be bigger than SUNS and GWS combined
all this for a population of 500k

Exactly leeroy. Even nlol junior, our member without a brain could see this. Unfortunately AFL exec seem to have a mutated brain which makes em go gung ho for the dumbest ventures known to mankind...time and time again.
I gotta say tho leeroy, your suggestion for sharing the team across the two cities sounds a goer.

regards to the two cities it would def work (they are the two biggest cities in Tasmania
and both have two good stadiums.
it would work really well with the Team Being called Tasmania as whole.
the Big Bash Hobart Hurricanes did it this year played a few games in Launceston and it worked well.
