You skirt the fact continually when a Saturday or PTV gamer is shown without any overlap it still get ratings 70+ thousand less than ours. You live in a fantasy world, you expect your Saturday/Sunday games to rate as well as Friday nights. Atmosphere is the only thing that your game has going for it, once you take that away your game is as exciting as watching paint dry - why do you think no one else wants to have anything to do with it! Even Victorian attitudes are much the same, after Friday night the weeks all but over.

Furthermore the NRL has two extra rounds! and 1.5 less matches per round and during the SOO period sometimes just 2. Victoria never has less then 3 , Often 4 and, on occasionally 5.

Your extra games are'nt usually of a night time. though didn't you play a game on Sunday night this year? , Monday night?, I know you had a game on Tuesday night as well as quite a few Thursday nights. And when you play them Saturday night you spit two games to in crease your ratings..but but but

Youre not even worth arguing with because you ignore facts. It is a well known fact that secondary digital channels rate less whether you think it makes sense or not. It's one of the reasons the nrl show finals on ch9 not gem. Its the reason the networks show their premiere programs on the main channel.

Ch7 had 20% viewership where as 7 mate only had 4%. In fact all 7's secondary channels added together had 10%

The more breaks the more $$$ a tv station makes to recoup their outlay .

& even though there's only about 5k+ ratings boxes in Aust it's seen as a fairly reliable sample size
Reliable enough( with whatever other data they can get) to outlay billions of $$$$

it's more complicated than that. Each market has a different advertising value (Sydney being far higher than elsewhere). Each time slot has a different advertising value. Fox care less about ratings and more about subscriptions. Networks can pay overs for sport because viewers will stay on and watch subsequent programs, so the value is more than the ratings of game alone.

Despite AFLcrap's simpleton views on everything, the answer is far more complicated

I've reviewed all fox ratings for this year which shows some pretty startling results. I'll post more in the coming days but here is an example I'd love you guys to explain:

Essendon played against the hawks in round 20 at 1.45pm on a Saturday and got ratings of 239k on fox footy.
They also played the hawks in round 7 at 2pm on Saturday and only got ratings of 125k on Fox3.

How is round 7 nearly 50% less despite being shown at essentially the same time?

Any ideas?
