Jesus h fuck it's like banging your head into a wall .
Forget who plays when in the NRL .
You use crossover games as an excuse for bad ratings . Even quoting what RM said .
I just highlighted WHY that happens .
& why it's a pitiful excuse because what they lose in a casual viewer they pick up in the home market viewer .

& finger pointing at the NRL ..deflection alert ...when the AFL has excluded 1/4 f the comp from the fri night games ..the highest rating of the week .

You are entering LIC idiocy territory .

we have 3 large heartland cities with at least 2 teams in each city. The NRL have only two large heartland cities and 1 club covers one of them. The NRL can target both with a single game. The AFL need to use 2 games to do the same thing

Another big advantage to the NRL you ignore

just pointing out how ridiculous your claim that the AFL targeting home markets is any different to the NRL. They do it too, but they only need a single game to do it

there are NRL teams excluded from Friday too. Furthermore, the low teams that are included get a single game. This is well and truly covered by the fact your most popular clubs get a disproportionate number of Friday games compared to the rest of your comp.

Now, back on topic, have you found out why the NRL are the only organisation worldwide that claim a cumulative ratings victory?

I'll type slowly ..so you can read it slowly & try to understand .
I didn't claim it was any different ..
Both codes frequently put their better rating teams on fri nights .
& you are still deflecting onto the NRL .
Your rant has nothing ...zilch zero to do with what the nrl does .
You have ranted over & over that overlapping games are bad for ratings as a viewer can't watch both .
True ....my argument is that what viewers you lose is made up by targeting HOME markets .

All you have done is deflect over & over.
No wonder Terry takes the piss out if you continuously .

I disagree that targeting heartland markets offsets concurrent scheduling. This is because over half the AFL competition is located in Victoria where they see 3 FTA games a round, with local clubs only featuring less than 1/3rd the time over the season. Same obviously goes for the NRL and Sydney clubs.

Therefore the only real advantage for targeting heartland markets is for Perth and Adelaide clubs. Yet if you combine their population together they are very similar to Brisbane and the Broncos, who also see their club on FTA almost every week.

SO this advantage is grossly over stated. It is probably negated by the fact Perth and Adelaide get games on 7mate and Perth get prime time games starting at 5.30pm local time, and other games on 2 hours delay.

Yes, Sydney see the swans and QLD teams see the lions and suns on FTA each round. However, the ratings are rarely more than 20k or so different to their normal ratings, on average.

Look at it this way:
A Penrith fan may see their club on FTA 8 times in a season. However they can still watch all FTA games plus all other games on fox, which only involves 16 hours of viewing over 4 days.

A Hawthorn fan may see their club on FTA 8 times in a season. They can also watch all FTA games, but can only watch 3 of the remaining 6 games because of overlapping scheduling. This is assuming they watch 18 hours of AFL over 3 days.

So 8 games per round for NRL fans and 6 games per round for AFL fans. Multiply that by the NRL's 3 round longer season and the advantage is over 50 games a year of extra viewing.

Here is why cumulative ratings are horseshit and why no other organisation takes any notice of them.

If you had a brain or something resembling it you could see that to try to use 2 USA sports that play nowhere near the same amount of games as each other & try to use as some sort of comparison to AFL & RL which play the same season .....same time slots a lot of the time & nearly the same amount of games is not even in te same ballpark .
It's laughable
It's not even close to te same .
But you go to These insane & I mean that literally lengths to try to justify your arguments .
Get help
Their conditions are different and they dont use cumulative ratings. In fact i cant find any reference to cumulative ratings for US sports at all.

If they indicate popularity why dont they use them?

The AFL and nrl have vastly different scheduling yet somehow the nrl media think cumulative ratings are important. I think theyre on their own

So there was no reaction from the AFL house or any of its many , many media outlets [-( ? There was no reaction from Peter Taylor and nooooo reason he re-wrote history using 5 city National ratings. No reason why the AFL use cumulative reach figures to claim there game attracts more viewers :(/ :(/ :(/

So ratings are basically like profit . They mean nothing [-( . Lol what planet do you live on? you don't think they mean nothing because they continually show the AFL in a bad light??????????????????????????????

If you didn't pick it up they were the ones I was talking about! The AFL and there cult members completely lost the plot. And stop embarrassing yourself by trying to deny it because you know full well they did.

And if Suns/Lions etc are getting just 15-25K from home fans on FTA how many more do think they would be attracting on PTV?????????????????????

I see even Gilligan has given up on the Gold Coast. He's finally had enough. The Tasmanian Suns. Its got a nice ring to it
