Both codes will want there game running well and rating well..
interesting the AFL wanted it lined up with the NRL TV Deal..
but YES!
I would say the networks paid that little extra to secure the AFL for an extra Year..
does make the NRL deal look even better considering

NRL 1.8bill Deal ( 5 year Term) 15 Australian Teams expires end of 2022 season
Both deals do not include Radio Broadcasts.
NRL Deal does not include NZ Tv Deal >> 1 NZ team
deal was struck in 2013 tv deal for 100mill (tv Deals are estimated to have doubled)
NRL includes 3 SOO Games on top of H&A season

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
When you ask if that makes the NRL's deal look even better considering, do you mean the fact that it's expiring? Seeing as you're going to get alot more from the first year of your next rights than you would have on an added year to the current deal?leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 10:33 amAFL 2.5bill Deal ( 6 year Term) 18 Australian Teams expires end of 2022 seasonCats_Steve wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 10:26 amSorry for not knowing these but again I don't feel like searching. Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
what i ment in saying " Makes the NRL deal look even better considering"
is that the AFL offered a 6 year Deal.. where as NRL only did 5 years
Networks would pay more for an extra year as it adds security to the product.
in suming up... The NRL deal side by side to the AFL deal.
if you look at it from many angles.. are very close...
which is quite amazing due to the fact in NRL games Advertising spots are very limited..
where as AFL there is quite alot..

but there are other factors which make the NRL more 'profitable' such as ch9 effectively control the fixture, the Broncos are played on FTA consistently, most games are in prime time, most weeks have Thursday night games, Sydney market is by far the most lucrative for advertising etcleeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 11:54 amwhat i ment in saying " Makes the NRL deal look even better considering"

Ch9 does not control the fixture this changed under this deal...
The NRL are in full control of the Fixture..
Broncos are on FTA 16 times throughout year..
Crows, port, freo, eagles, giants, swans, lions, suns have 22 FTA games per year each give or take.
let alone how many on the Big Melbourne teams are on FTA..
quick check Richmond Tigers are 13 Prime FTA spots in 2018 year..
so that point is invalid..
AFL have just as many games in primetime>> Another point invalid..
as stated before sydney has 28% advertising jump on Melbourne.. data from 2016 (which melbourne is climbing)
but this does not make up for the NRL having appox 3 advertising spots a half
to the AFL well over 20..
Thank You

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
NRL prime time games: Thursday 8pm, Friday 6pm, Friday 8pm, Saturday 6pm, Sunday 8pm, so 5 out of 8 or 63%
AFL prime time games: Friday 7.50pm, Saturday 7.30pm x 2, so 3 of 9, or 30%, or at worst 4 from 9 when they have Thursday games, or 44%

And all we see on LU is NRL fans complaining about TV friendly scheduling which impacts crowds. So why are they scheduling for TV over Crowds? Ch9/fox, that's why

We acknowledge it all the time. and then we reply, 'you get extra FTA coverage , Crows, Port, Freemantle, Swans, Suns, WCE, GWS and Lions, all being shown on FTA into there home market'. But it just goes in one ear and out the other. Then around we go again. Or sometimes a different excuse, only more fucked up than the first. Then round & round we go. Another excuse, a fucked up theory, but, but, but.
The NRL can target their entire metro heartland in 1 game, while we need multiple games do get the same result.
Metro/5 city or Regional, there is no difference, there all viewers.
As usual totally irrelevant . However it does sound like your finally accepting that RL does attract more viewers.
