Afl Sloppy Shootin Sundays

Post by King-Eliagh »

8-[

Well the fans were there at the ground and watching on to tv again today and what'd they see?

They saw games which appear to not be as lopsided as the Friday night Fizzer or the Sad Sorry Saturday matches of late... but instead? Well they saw some Sloppy Shitass Shootin for their time and $$

Fukkin hell I mean what on earth is going on!

Here's the Sunday stats

A total of:

29 Goals

And

A whopping 51 boring behinds!

I can seriously see why the afls biggest funder is starting to get the shits with what he's spent his money on.

Rubbish. There are 2 reasons accuracy is down:
1. congestion. Set shots at goal are less common because marks in the forward 50 are less common. Therefore more shots at goal are from general play which again is effected by the pressure of congested play
2. coaches recruit endurance athletes over ball skills. Today's game style requires far more running to maintain defensive pressure. Someone like Tony Locket may not even get a game today

The game has changed in recent decades

MELBOURNE great Garry Lyon has slammed the kicking standards of current AFL players, saying players’ skills were as bad as he’d ever seen.

Lyon said players were having issues kicking inside 50, goal kicking and general field kicking.

“Kicking in footy right now is as bad as I’ve ever seen it,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“(Kicking) for goal, kicking inside 50 and some of the general field kicking, at some stage you’ve just got to say enough is enough.

These are professional full-time footballers who have more access to resources and time than ever before and it is putrid.”

I think he's right. The skills they practice now revolve around pressure, running, and handballing in traffic. It's the product of the current game style

Yep Leeroy is right as per usual, worst afl shooters since the teams Melbourne could put together on the mud pits that were afl fields back in the 1950s.

But I think we can also look deeper into this. We are talking about afl footy teams that were cobbled together shortly after the Second World War ended. They were unpaid and kicking more accurately than the bums on field in 2018! I mean how many fit young blokes were even around to play footy shortly after the Second World War? Prolly about one thirtieth of the men around and available today  and yes they were kicking awful as you’d expect....but some were prob lame from the war and yet they still kicked better than the goons out there on field today!!

The afl, a national shamejob that severely needs fixing. I mean seriously
And their chief funder agreees!!!

there's a reason accuracy is down. Congested defensive play means more shots at goal are under pressure of general play.

Pretty sure set shot accuracy is down too nlol.

Please, enough of your lamo excuses and acknowledge the problems at hand.

1. Yes game is congested and boring as you and i think the afls Chief funding body suggest
2. Skills are down, including general play kicking as afl legends of the game suggest
3. Set shot accuracy is down as champion data indicates
4. Expansion has failed bringing in basketball and rugby league players although great for novelty factor is not good for getting accuracy up.

Thanks nlol, just admit the reality and you’ll be ok :)
