Sell-out crowd anticipated for Shanghai
A sell-out crowd is anticipated at Adelaide Arena at Jiangwan Stadium in China later this month, with nearly all tickets exhausted for the Gold Coast's round nine clash against Port Adelaide.
For SUNS members and fans who have not yet secured their ticket for the match, availability remains in SUNS HQ. Overlooking the playing area SUNS HQ is a relaxed environment where guests will enjoy an all-inclusive food and beverage package alongside fellow supporters, SUNS staff, board members and dignitaries.
Those either in or travelling to China also have the opportunity to further immerse themselves in the football experience and pre-register to attend Open Training in the lead up to the match.
This year the AFL, PAFC and Gold Coast SUNS expect a larger Chinese presence with around 50 per cent of tickets sold to the locals, a significant increase on last year.
The AFL GM of China, Dave Stevenson told AFL.com.au the game to be officially sold out within the next couple of days.
"We will have a bigger proportion of local Chinese at the game," Stevenson said.
"We probably had 30 per cent last year, and this year it will be closer to 50 per cent. We've done more marketing, social media and now have 22 schools involved in our AFL program. We're also getting more interest in the game because of the broadcasters. This year we've already had six rounds of AFL aired in China."
The stadium turf has been given the all-clear with the surface graded as AFL standard, while the arena itself has undergone a transformation in the last 12 months, with custom built change rooms in place behind the interchange benches.

This event is now generating a lot of momentum and to get more locals and schools involved is a terrific plus for footy in China.

Like AFL X which flopped
Like the last AFL Shanghai match played in a half empty 3rd world stadium.

Re: AFL Sell-out crowd anticipated for Shanghai
As sure as the sun rises in the East & sets in the West ..this thread will end up like most of Beas .
A huge fail .
I have a question .
Is an "ANTICIPATED SELL OUT" the same as last years proclaimed SELLOUT where there were about 5 k missing all game .
Apparently the afl esteemed leader thought they were out the back all game eating .
Lol

Re: AFL Sell-out crowd anticipated for Shanghai
Looking forward to it!
The expansion is tracking nicely.
Compared to the cheap skates at the National Flogby League hq who's total idea of expansion is selling games to the outback.
The AFL actually invest in this game.
How many country towns will have the "honour" of hosting Flogby this year?
And at what price?
The inevitable town wide IQ lowering is a pretty high one that probably takes the cake.
The National Flogby League really don't like spending money do they?
Prefer to pillage it seems.
Then there is the "Super Saturday double headers".
The dead set lamest attempt to get a decent crowd I've ever seen, we all see through the "hype". Even the leaguers do, though they'll never admit it.
Pity they don't count in tallies as double at the end of the year.
And how much $$$ do they save booking one venue for two games?
Then still have the cheek to sell off some of the better seats to advertiser's.
There's a definate pattern here.
Spend as little as possible, maximise advertiser's exposure and fuck the supporters.
It seems to me people are getting sick of it.
The 3rd grade Flogby being regurgitated by the National Flogby League on a weekly basis ain't cutting it anymore.
Luckily there's another domestic comp that is going places.
Premier competition footy every week.
Not just once a year.

Re: AFL Sell-out crowd anticipated for Shanghai
Please stay on topic .
You go off on some irrational rant ..
Now let's discuss this alleged sellout .
Will there be extra food outlets to cover the many missing folk .
If so why do 5 k people prefer to spend the entire game eating & not watching .
There's two questions for you .
Now try to stay on topic.

One thing lead to the next. A bit ranty i admit.
Pretty comprehensive though, you must agree.
Now to your questions, as compelling as they are, I've no idea.
I guess some extra food trucks would be good, not too sure really.

There taking a test match to the USA. And there taking a club game to Adelaide , they have already played in Perth, have played quiet a few games in the bush and will play quiet a few more . And they will also play an Origin game in Melbourne this year. But but but but..
And by the way Mars Park. How'd that work out for you
