Lol more than the AFL
Also an official has come out
No probs

AFL ..0

Lol time to move into the modern times

& stop avoiding my question
Why
Why
Why
No professional MALE AFL player has come out, plenty of local league players have though. This suggests to me that the sporting culture accepts the change but the media attention given to professional players means they dont want their sexuality made into a media circus.

Now how many NRL players have come out?

Oh dear - our fumbling folks here must be disgusted with fumblehouse - they've taken down the Yes sign after an outcry Lololololololololololol. They sniffed the breeze and put the sign up then they sniffed the breeze and pulled the sign down Lolololololololololololol.

Begs the question what does this lamentable, spin doctored, politically correct, sniffing in the breeze mob actually stand for?? Seems like nothing at all Lolololololololololololol. They're all froth and bubbles, smoke and mirrors, say it if it makes us look good, don't say it if it makes us look bad Lololololololololol.

They only thing they believe in is the great god fumble.

Oh......and I know they now say it was only meant to be up for a day. And I know the fumbling zealots will all nod in unison and pat each other on the back while the sane population shake their head and chuckle.

The AFL has taken down the ‘Yes’ logo outside its Docklands headquarters

taken down less than 24 hours..

There were reports the logo had been vandalised over night

The AFL have a very smart marketing dept as we all know. Some would say cunning and disingenuous. They put the sign up without stating what length of time it would be there. Very smart move.

Other AFL folk have an outcry about it - now reports of vandalism overnight. So they pull it down and say it was only ever going to be up for one day. Very smart move. They now have plausible denial - no one can prove what they actually intended. Very smart move.

I agree
They are streets ahead of the rest of the sporting community when it comes to propaganda ...massaging the IMAGE ....smoke & mirrors .
I've said it repeatedly .they do one thing when the opposite is the reality ..
Oh & in that article I love how one of their favourite words get used ......
We are a LEADER
Blah blah .
They claim it for this ...lol ..no male player has come out yet .but the way they carry on you'd think it was a gay paradise in the AFL ...so welcoming .

The claim they're LEADERS in the fight against racism .yet they have far more racist problems than any other sport in Aust .
But they won't tell you that .

All this aside, I do not see it as unusual that an organisation or business would try to promote itself positively.

On the YES thing ... is it not a good thing that they are voicing their opinion on the matter. The could have said NO but they went with yes. Does more work need to be done ? Of course ... these things are often an ongoing pursuit.

On the Coming Out. Whilst no AFL player has come out I do not see this as an issue. Having written a bit on this topic and social dynamics it is argued that tolerance is in itself a form of discrimination or bigotry in society. What we need is for it not to be an issue. How many people come out to say they are heterosexual ?? This is the point. Someone sexual preference should not be a concern or of an interest. But we are not there yet and we do need people to make these types of declarations unfortunately. If I was a gay and played AFL I would refuse to state this publicly ... because it should not be an issue ... however I would be torn as I think there also need to be strong leaders that do such a thing so that we get to the point that people don't even care.

Having 1 person in nrl hardly makes it a leading light by the way. But indeed it is one more than AFL :)

Ah Fred we have more than 1 person
Try again
1 point

& what you can't seem to grasp is that people have come out in RL.
There's no prob .they are treated no different
So anyone in future who is proud to be gay knows it's NOT an issue in his sport .

Your backward sport still hasn't crossed that bridge
A gay male player still doesn't know if he will be treated the same or not
If the redneck southern bogans will want to string him up .

Go read what Acker said
I don't think much has changed .

You may have a point. You must remember though that AFL players come from and play across the nation as a whole so not confined to southern bogans.

For me, I was just saying there should be no need for a gay person to have to come out. The fact there is often a push to do so shows how far we still have to go as a society. The day where no one cares and it is the same as heterosexual relationships will be a good day.... but... we are not there yet. So I agree we are still on that part of the journey where being gay is seen as something unique or different or even unusual that it needs prominant people to come out and say they are gay. It will be a good day when this is not even a topic.

Leading the way
Oh my

You really do live in an alternate universe .

Bea
Why has no Gay player in the AFL comp come out yet
Why is that

Um this is leading the way BEA
An actual GAY player talking about the subject .
& this article is from Sept11
So the AFL are a little behind
But that's alright
You wank off to their lip service propaganda .
We will choose to live in the real world where players/ officials in our sport are not afraid to come out .
:))) :)))

Tragic suicide of teen boy spurred Roberts’ efforts backing SSM
IAN Roberts, rugby league’s first openly gay player, cried tears of pride when the NRL revealed it will publicly support same-sex marriage, insisting the decision “would save lives”.
Lol
The AFL has a gay pride game and round does a lot of work in the gay community and so does several of its clubs& , has amateur and female players come out

Nrlol does jack shit same with the clubs & has a player come out in the 90s at the end of his career to make money & no other nrlol player has come out since

Your logic AFL homophobic
Nrlol not
Lol Fuckwitt

Further update: People now debating whether someone was angry they put the sign up or angry they took the sign down.

This is what happens when you try to be everything to everybody!!

Institutions should not be expressing their views as those who are a part of these groups may not support the views of the institution. Gay and lesbian marriage is an issue that the individual should be voting on and the institution should not be seeking to speak on behalf of the individual.
