And on the rare occasion i do write, its on these subjects. See this week
- I wrote about AFLX and its brief history - relevant to the news of the day.
- I noted State of Origin crowds and ratings and compared them solely to previous ones.
- I wrote about AFL CBA as a summary of everything else written about the AFL CBA. Ill do the same if the NRL is ever signed.
- and two general news posts with headlines for all codes about various industry matters.
I dont write or post about the on field events, nor do i write about medical shit.

So Australian rules so far the most watched sport in Australia. With 1 origin to come should be a close season.

So you strike out NZ ratings to get your manufactured result and don't mention the number of games the numbers come from. So again - FB is counting 40 more games, yep 40. Once RL catches up on this number the result will be inevitable. RL again!!!!!!Fred wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 9:55 amSo Australian rules so far the most watched sport in Australia. Funny how you laugh at my excuse of games shown in isolation yet youre happy to use total games as an excuse.Terry wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 10:01 amSo you strike out NZ ratings to get your manufactured result and don't mention the number of games the numbers come from. NlolRL There is a big difference between reasonable facts and your laughable excuses.
Doesn't it make sense to you that to determine who has the most ratings you have to count all ratings? Not just the ones that you would like to count.???

That would make perfect sense IF all games were shown in the same way, but they aren't. The best we have is one game v one game shown at the same time. Over a whole season there'd be close to 30 of these, which is more that enough to show which code has the bigger audiencepussycat wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 12:12 pmNlolRL There is a big difference between reasonable facts and your laughable excuses.

the AFL schedule this way for a reason, they find it is the best way to MAXIMISE there figures..NlolRL wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 12:47 pmThat would make perfect sense IF all games were shown in the same way, but they aren't. maybe you should Email the AFL and get them to not show games that overlap
like to see there reply and reasoning behind it.
cannot do just 1 game v 1 game on a particular night, to find the outcome of who is more popular..
Re: 2017 - Australian Football TV Ratings - AFL, AFL Womens etc (Rolling updates in OP)
Of course they do it for a reason. But that reason is to maximise viewers per time slot, not per game. For example even a poor AFL game shown in isolation on saturday night wpuld get 800k, yet two cracking games shown concurrently would only get 1200 max. Per game it loses, but per time slot its a winner.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 3:52 pmthe AFL schedule this way for a reason, they find it is the best way to MAXIMISE there figures..NlolRL wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 12:47 pmThat would make perfect sense IF all games were shown in the same way, but they aren't. Yet on here people only want to compare per game which clealy doesnt do the AFLs scheduling any favours.
Tell me why a game v game comparison doesnt work when in also includes some Thursday, Monday and anzac day games?

Re: 2017 - Australian Football TV Ratings - AFL, AFL Womens etc (Rolling updates in OP)
We are talking about two different organisations each trying to get as many viewers /ratings as possible. All you have NlolRL is club football. That is your season. That's not the case with a Rugby League Season. The past two weeks have been a perfect example. Last Friday our bottom teams played. That's never going to happen in the AFL of a Friday night. The week before, a game shown in total isolation got 3.5m but the screams and squeals I got when I tried to compare it to your Thursday game played under the exact same conditions.
The AFL sell 4 matches for broadcast to Ch7 each round. Saturday night is one of those matches. Although the match might be split into 2 and shown into different regions to maximise its ratings it is just 1 match.
The AFL may lose a few ratings from PTV viewers by doing it this way (maybe) but they more then make up for it by maximising there ratings from FTA viewers.

Re: 2017 - Australian Football TV Ratings - AFL, AFL Womens etc (Rolling updates in OP)
well actually thats not true. Our opening round is Carlton v Richmond with both team being poor for decades. Stkilda, Carlton and north have played in a number of Friday night games and theyve been poor this year. You have 1st v 3rd tonight with one team covering 2 million people. We have nothing like that. There are over 30 direct 1 v 1 games this year. Thats more than enough for each comp to have poor games and great games. Fact is our great games are rating higher and we have had far more of them.pussycat wrote: Fri Jun 30, 2017 7:34 pmWe are talking about two different organisations each trying to get as many viewers /ratings as possible. On SOO, yes it rates really well but it cant be used as a gauge of popularity between the sports because it engages your entire heartland in a single game. If the AFL had a similar concept then you possibly could, but we dont. It's like saying athletics is more popular than RL because Cathy Freeman rated better than any RL game ever. It's a stupid comparison given the Olympics appeals to every Australian. Yes SOO outrates home and away AFL, but it also easily outrates NRL home and away. It's the concept that is popular, not just the sport. If it was the sport your home and away games would rate just as well.
When you count those Saturday night games as 2 games the average is well down on Friday night, despite targeting multiple markets. The context is there are two games that are only shown on FTA to part of the country, not nationally. Yet you guys count them like theyre both shown nationallyThe AFL sell 4 matches for broadcast to Ch7 each round. Saturday night is one of those matches.
