Get ready for all this nrl state of boredom hype this week
I won't be watching this irrelevant nrl "game" on Wednesday night as something more exciting will be on Channel 38. The 10th Annual Grass Growing Competetion from the Simpson Desert. Now this is what I call more exciting than this nrl rubbish!

Oh it would given the right conditions! The 1970 grand final between these two drew the largest crowd to an AFL game in history. Whenever these two meet during the home and away season the crowd is ALWAYS huge. The last time it drew only 30 odd thousand was the last time they didn't play at the MCG - I think it was Princes Park and it was billed as "The last suburban rivalry" game.Raiderdave wrote::_<>AFFP wrote:The biggest rivalry in Australian sport is Collingwood and Carlton.![]()
phhhht please
since when has a game between these 2 attracted 4 Million TV veiwers
wouldn't get that many if they played in a grand final
oh yr a funny one

we're not talking about crowds .... this upcoming SOO would pull a massive crowd too given a stadium big enough to hold itTLPG wrote:Oh it would given the right conditions! no
when the stadiums are full then the only place you can watch a game in on the box
this SOO .. this one .. might crack 4 Mill
I don't think a Grand final between 2 Melbourne sides.. any 2.. would get a TV audience that big because the appeal outside of Melb wouldn't be there
the consistency of sellout crowds & the speed with which they sellout ( in brisbane anyway )
& the consistent 3 million plus TV audiences have SOO unrivalled in Aust sport
& no correspondence will be entered into

We should be talking about crowds, because that's where the money is. If one relies on advertising revenue to get by, one is in serious financial trouble.
When FTA starts showing ALL AFL games live next year (as Seven will be doing on both the main channel and 7mate) we'll see what happens. One of the hold backs in Melbourne right now is that they never show the local games live. It's shown on delay by between half an hour and an hour. The only thing that will appeal about Pay next year is the lack of commercials.

you mean the $2.50 to get into an AFL game ?
yeah
big bucks there

half of the AFL clubs are only competing in this years comp
because of the last TV deal
that same half can only compete in the next 5 years because of the new deal
please .. know something about something .. before you post utter rubbish
you continue to look like an utter goose because you're not even close to having a grasp of the issues

wots full price .... $5

at least 8 AFL clubs are technically insolvent
if it wasn't for TV broadcasters paying overs for the AFL rights
most of these would have folded by now
