Last I looked AFL was the dominant sport in nt and wa and has a strong following in nsw and qld so not sure if they are southern ... and south is relative to where you are. Tasmanians may see it as a northern sport for instance

Every code has a small minority of racists, it's a fact of life in every country. However, we have far more fans than any other Australian sport so it follows we will see more incidents. Thankfully they are isolated fans who are quickly reported by other responsible fans and dealt with by the clubs.
