You think they're paying 4 percent on a loan that size? If they are they are crazy.

Am not saying rectangular codes want to increase capacity..Beaussie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2017 7:46 pmAs if the rectangular codes need an increase in capacity when they very rarely ever test capacity of AAMI Park as is. AFLCrap1 surely you'd be against Victorian taxpayer $$$ being wasted like that yeah, esp. considering your stance re: AFL in Queensland?leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2017 6:02 pmNow that the AFL own ethiad
Does that mean AAMI stadium can mow be lifted in capacity due to restrictions that it was before hand..
45k would be a great size ground
If so no rectangle code would ever play there again
Bar a few big bash games
I am saying it was ETHIAD which blocked AAMI from being bigger than 30k capacity.
but now that the AFL own the ground.. the Government might in the future upgrade the ground.
to bring Bigger events to an Actual ground where you are close to the action.

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
It stated this in the age,
"The deal cost the AFL about $200 million, with the remaining funds used to permanently service the stadium, which is also in need of an upgrade"

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
You do realize the Victory can just play hard ball in summer and play out of AAMI, they also signed a 10 year deal with Etihad which has to be honored. That leaves the cricket, good luck making enemys with CA by jacking up rental prices on the Big bash, good PR that move lol

Fred's right, you wouldn't use business capital to outright purchase an income producing asset as it would be more advantageous for a business to borrow as it creates better deductions.

the NAB are major sponsors of the AFL & have been for years, so the fact the AFL could have been given a special rate could be highly likelyleeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2017 1:30 pm
the estimated land value that Etihad is on ia around 1 to 1.3 billion, so what ever the deal that has been arrange NAB will win out

AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
On that sort of dough the interest rate would be pretty low. If your getting 3.83 on an average home loan of half a mil I would be thinking it would be much lower even for a business loan.leagueiscrap wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2017 7:04 pmthe NAB are major sponsors of the AFL & have been for years, so the fact the AFL could have been given a special rate could be highly likely

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
you would think so, just the sheer amount of money involved the history with NAB & the leveraging power the AFL would have, the deal would be a bit more complex and favourable, to the standard home loan or business loan dealFred wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2017 8:20 amOn that sort of dough the interest rate would be pretty low. AAMI is hardly ever near full capacity. why build something so big at the cost of hundreds of millions extra.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2017 1:28 pmAm not saying rectangular codes want to increase capacity..Beaussie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2017 7:46 pmAs if the rectangular codes need an increase in capacity when they very rarely ever test capacity of AAMI Park as is. How many times a year or season has there been a crowd over 30k
The minnowbourne storm aren't getting crowds like that!
So let's go and spend several hundred million on a venue, that will hardly ever be filled!

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
For the odd Melbourne Victory game they do.
Interesting to note about AAMI park, when it was built the concrete footings & base of the stadium were over engineered, so the venues capacity can be up graded later date & be able to take he weight of the increased capacity
