Revised numbers from Mediaweek

So 1.293m not including extra time and without Fox.
adding in 331k for fox and rounding up to 50k for NZ - total = 1.674m

The AFL pulled 1.39 million on Seven, and 432k on fox = 1.822m

That revised total still does not include Extra time, so is incorrect.

AFL 1.359m + 432k = 1.791
NRL 1.293m not including extra time + 331k = 1.624m without extra time and without NZ.

4 RUGBY LEAGUE FINAL SERIES SF1 -POST GAME Nine 834,000 SYD 382,000 BRI 452,000

http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2016/09/fri ... -2016.html

Look at those extra time numbers, huge.

Add extra time and NZ and we have very comparable numbers.

pretty basic Wookie - nrl dominates 2 of the top 3 ad markets in Australia. and despite have next to no presence in the southern states, and being mismanaged for the past 20-25 years, still sits just behind the afl in the amount of revenue generated from tv deals. given all the free kicks the afl has had to establish itself, you'd think it would have done a lot better. piss poor effort really and their forays into the GC and western sydney are going to end in tears.

nrl is simply a better game to watch on tv. it must hurt the afl die hards to admit it.

1) extra time - sorry - post game - was counted as a separate timeslot
2) if you are counting it with the match time, the average audience is still carried over two broadcasts. Not one. Its not a simple a+b thing.
3) we can add Sevens AFL post match shit to the AFl total as well if you want to play this game. Do we add the prematch coverage in as well?

Ah no it is not, i have got a confirmation of mediaweek themselves that the Revised total does not include the extra time.

Nice try though wookie, you act like you know what your talking about but in reality you have no idea.... :(/ :(/ =D> =D>

I cant help it if your NRL spreadsheet is full off errors.

Whats the point in doing the spreadsheets if they are not accurate. :-k

Your NRL spreadsheet is missing 2m viewers over the course of the season.

Hello everyone :)

I'm new here.

Something that's very interesting regarding the AFL & NRL Grand Finals:

This year was a record for NRL (2.5m overnight metro, 3.5m overnight national), if you can believe it...

Whereas the AFL (3m overnight metro - game, 4m overnight national - game) wasn't even a record (albeit the highest-rating game in a decade & once again the #1 TV program of 2016), yet still had a ~500k difference to NRL!

Showing how far Rugby League still needs to go in Australia, before ALL states/markets have interest and/or teams in that code.

(i.e.) Zero interest in South Australia, WA & Tasmania.

Although gradual progress is being made (Origin in WA in a few years, NRL games in South Australia and Tasmania next year, etc).

Thoughts?

You'll find the main interest that the RL attracts from WA are from ex South Africans and Kiwis.

Totally different screening arrangements, with fixtures and games, on several times wookie hasn't even recorded the regional ratings for the afl games & head to head the afl flogged the nrlol nearly every time!

But you won't take any of reality in to account will you? Just take figures and run with them!
