It'd be nice to have rep footy, TLPG! Then we'd get even more crowds!

The trouble though, Onions, is that we have three states vying for equal attention, not two. The last time we tried to establish Vic v SA - WA screamed blue murder for being left out.

Thats right, Origin Match,- IE. RUGBY LEAGUE !!! Or shouln't I talk about that?is it unfair of me to mention that because your pathetic game dos'nt have rep footy? And are unable to find anyone else to play against.

The Perth Reds did very well. And since, have been pounding down the NRL's door seeking readmittance. They are the leading canditate for admittance.
We don't need rep footy to be a success. You lot do. Our International Cup attracts more countries than the RL World Cup.

Where are the screams for the Perth Reds? I'm not hearing a thing! The NRL has no room for expansion at present because it's gone as far as it can go. The salary cap has to go up and I don't think it will.

You do need it, and you try like hell to get itt - but no one else is interested. You pick a 'best' team each year and the sad pathetic bunch just play with each other.

You international cup

That remark just goes to show how little you understand about AFL.

Actually I think he makes a point. He is talking about the level of professionalism at the international level TLPG.

Now I dont know what you think but numerous countries play Rugby League at a fairly high and professional level. AFL doesnt.

I must say Aussie Rules overseas is another area of the sport I've experienced and you probably havent :D Played for Amsterdam against Paris just two years ago. It was great fun but the level of footy was pretty shite. We won by more than 100 points and our team wasnt that crash hot! I guess the point I'd like to make is in AFL I could easily make the top level in European countries. Rugby League not a chance, the level would be too high.

Where else is Aussie Rules played? I know of junior Aboriginal kids from the territory going to South Africa to play. I know NewZealand has some comps. Please inform us TLPG, otherwise I once again have to side with Raider on his suggestion that an international Aussie Rules tournament is no better than amateur.

You're a fool. We don't need it and we don't want it because with three equal states there isn't room. I notice that you didn't provide any links to prove that there are hundreds of rugby fans in Perth pleading for their own RL team in the NRL. Where's the government backing for it (like they have in Tasmania)? Where are the stories about the protests? Come on, give!

I usually ignore KE but in this case I'll make an exception by listing the 15 countries that played in the 2008 International Cup, of which the grand final was played at the MCG as an entertaining curtain raiser to an AFL game;

New Zealand
Canada
Ireland
USA
South Africa
Papua New Guinea (who won it)
Samoa
Great Britain
Nauru
Japan
Denmark
Sweden
India
Finland
China

And that's just who were able to field a team!

I understand that even more countries are playing in the next Cup, which is this year. And I don't believe you over Amsterdam v Paris!

Most of those countries plus quiet a few more play Rugby League, nearly all have played at test match level. The island nations around here , in partical, are mad about the game. and its not just window dressing like your game. For example: Rugby League is PNG's national sport.

The reason we only had a few nations competing at our world cup this time is Because the main nations like Australia are so strong , and its in nobody's best intest for the Cook Island's or another small nations to get beaten 100-0, It's Why We rarely play teams like Ireland and Bangladesh in cricket. At our previous world cup all nations attended and the number was well over 20 probably closer to 30.

And don't give me that BS about AFL not wanting rep football. Your post contradicts that for a start. The AFL spends millions of dollars each year trying to spread the game over seas. It must be a bit like standing in the corner at a dance. waiting for sombody to ask you to up - but no one ever comes - how pathetic.

Amstedam? Paris? what are you talking about?

According to TLPG, PNG won the AFL International Cup. Pretty good for a country who's national sport is supposedly something else! If Australia is so strong in rugby league, why don't they just step aside like they did in the International Cup?

Here's a fact. AFL clubs don't want rep football. They want club football. Great dedication to the game. More than can be said for the rep happy NRL! There's more whining about midweek rep games in State of Origin than there is whining about a lack of it in AFL!
Why  it's the world cup - do Brazil step aside in Soccer, NZ in Union or Australia in cricket? This isn't pretend.

Your only saying that because you don't have it. Why else would be trying to promote the game overseas. Ask your own fans or officials, theres nothing they'd enjoy more than having someone to play with.

No Raider that's your stupid game. Thurston would have been rubbed out in the AFL.

We're developing the game overseas. What are the NRL doing about game development in new areas, hmmmm? I know - bugger all because you're too busy trying to find the extra money to support the game locally!!

Check it out TLPG. I played for the national side The flying dutchman in Amsterdam in 2009 (I know, I could easily be called an international Aussie Rules player  ). They only have the result against Paris in 2010 up but looks like the result was very similar to the 2009 game I played in.

Now although I dont mind talking myself up, I have to say the level of footy was fairly low. I completely smashed the Half forward from Perth who was playing for Paris time and time again during the 09 game. It was easy to get kicks away and our team just walked all over them. It was actually not that fun after the first half.

I'd say our team was the equivalent of a 3rd grade sydney team.

So I gotta agree more with Raider. The sport of Aussie Rules certainly is present o/s but there's no way you could call it professional, or anywhere near that level, like you could for Rugby League.

International appeal? Rugby League wins by a mile!
