Exactly the same happens for the Broncos and Brisbane. This year theyve rated in the mid 200k's when the Broncos play then down to 57k when the Broncos arent playing.

Also, I just checked and both Adelaide and perth were shown the Richmond v Suns game, which was easily the worst matchup of the day. Anyone with payTV would have watched GWS v Swans or even Carl v Stk
lol cmon X man when the broncos are not playing the Brisbane ratings are not down to 57k .....

they avg over 130k (go check for yourself.)

and my reason for the post.. is why the AFL choose to schedule Multiple games at the same time.
and this is the reason why.. because other games do not rate..
Round 3 Sunday 66k
Round 4 Sunday 65k
Round 6 Sunday 67k

You were saying?

The AFL choose to show multiple games because they have 8 teams outside Victoria. How else would they show so many teams in 4 FTA games?

Unless there's hype and plenty of atmosphere - its nothing . The game itself is as boring as batshit!

What other sporting events Grand Final would be out rated by the post match presentation.

The fact that a rugby league match can pull a bigger crowd or get bigger ratings, in Melbourne says it all.

I know I've said it all before - that's because its so fucking true :(/
So boring the AFL has the highest crowds and ratings for individual home and away games this year? We dont need some rep event to do it in either.

And seriously, dont even start on crowds after GWS outdrew EVERY NRL game in Sydney this weekend. My god, how pathetic

60k + about 30k from fox, is 90k. This is about 14/ to 1/3 what the NRL rates in Sydney. Not sure why you think this level of support is poor for an expansion sport in a non-heartland market

As for made up crowd, did yuou even see the game? The ground was pretty packed in with only patches of spare seats

Any games of yours that rated well are ones with hype, fanfare and atmosphere (and more likely than not a post match presentation) the game itself is of secondary importance. Melbourne is a sport starved state . The people themselves will watch , in there droves, any match that has a bit of glitz a glamour.

well for starters, every Satyrday FTA game into Melbourne is on delay, yet you clowns seem to claim we have 4 live FTA games vs your 3. Delaying the game into the arvo clearly has a massive effect on ratings

Then, you must be blind:
rnd 12 96k
rnd 10 88k
rnd 5 57k

all after daylight savings had finished

oh my, you must be dumbest flog on here!

The NRL cant get a crowd over 45k without it being SOO or a final! Clearly if it isnt an event with hype, fanfare and atmosphere then no one turns up.

As for the AFL GF presentation outrating the game, anyone with a modest amount of brains knows that the game is averaged over 2.5 hours and the presentation only over the small time at the end of the game. Obviously more people tuned in to the end of a close game to watch the result, and stayed viewing the shorter presentation

We have had 2 games post over 50k this year.

Cowboys vs Broncos
Cowboys Storm/ Broncos Manly.

I was actually referring to last year since that's at least a complete season. Now if you're referring to the double header crowd where 4 teams combined to get a crowd barely over 50k then that is exactly what I am referring to............... :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

doesn't take away the fact besides those 3 games you mentioned

most games rate over 120k and as high as 180k

your Melbourne delayed game constantly rates near 200k..
and even if you do not have 4 live into Melbourne there is 3
and 4 live into each other state..

a delayed Saturday night game for the NRL would still rate well..

the tickets were in fact more expensive for the double header as you were seeing 2 games.
instead of 1

Xman, there is no mention of crowds in that quote. It seems that when ever your faced with anything that shows just how pathetic your sport is you go back to your 'safe place' , crowds are like a safety blanket for you, but when confronted by some thing that matters :(/  :(/ - safety blanket time.

Yay, the Grand Finals over :\: - Time for the presentation

Lets pick a pretend Australian - Ooh what fun. The dufus medal presentation - that will rate.

This was your comment: The people themselves will watch , in there droves, any match that has a bit of glitz a glamour.

As far as Im concerned any game with a decent crowd is a game watched by people in their droves, and for the AFL this is common. For the NRL this is unusual, and often only finals and SOO

As for me retreating to crowds, well it is part of this thread and a reasonable discussion point. You're the one who sticks to ratings only despite the fact that without a few rep games you code is behind

So youve backed down from 'every' to 'most'..........nice work =D>

Yes there is 4 into each state, but like Sydney, Melbourne is our primary market. If the NRL was delayed into Sydney and live into every other state your FTA would rate poorly
