NEW KID ON THE BLOCK HERE
I just want to convey that this American loves footy cause, I love the fights. I also feel that American Football players are sissies cause, they wear all that padding. I wish they'd go the same way Australia Footy player wear. It would make American Football very interesting. I have a question- If anyone on this board seen the movie YOUNGBLOOD with Rob Lowe in which he plays a hockey player and in the movie he practices fighting using a punching bag. How do Footy players practice/train? Do they also fight/wrestle each other to get tough? Have there been any Footy player who in grade school/high school/college wrestled and then went into Footy? And can you please name those you know who were wrestlers?

Re: NEW KID ON THE BLOCK HERE
AFL players rub their pee pees together, but eddie said they shouldn't blow it all straight away as they have to rub it some more at half time and if you go to far, well you know what happens.

Re: NEW KID ON THE BLOCK HERE
You'll find bigjoe that there is a lot of RL posters who are fairly one eyed about their sport being the main sport in Australia even though they are lucky to get 15,000 to a game. They'll tell you about how popular their sport is because of tv ratings even though AFL gets more than twice the crowds, has more than three times the membership (we have no private owners in the AFL it is all about fan/memberships), most clubs have more than double the revenue of their largest clubs and the league itself enjoys more than 100 more in revenue. They will tell you that it has the largest participation rate yet it wasn't the case until touch football (a game that you can't tackle in, or kick field goals, has a min of 6-8 players and you touch the ball on your foot rather than pass underneath you. So aside from pretty much being a completely different game they claim this in their participation which go from about 200,000 nationally to 1.4 mil on the back of some very rubbery figures. Again they will tell you it's the pre-dominate sport although it's only got about 10,000 playing the game outside of NSW and QLD. They will tell you it's national although again it has only one team outside of NSW/QLD (ACT is in NSW). They pretty much convince them selfs of anything even though the biggest club in their very heartland in Sydney is the Swans. So that pretty much somes it up bigjoe. Para above is very confused as are most RL people, they have had players like Hopoate digitally rape other players, Todd Carney urinate in his mouth when having a night out(bubbling), Joel Monaghan root his dog, Mitchell Pearce dry hump a strangers dog and Josh Reynolds fondle the testicals of his opponent when he was feeding a scrum. Very confused lot! So enjoy your time and try and not get hung up on the little stuff like one of our resident imbeciles!

Welcome BigJoe, nice to see an American here who appreciates real footy. What are you thoughts on Americans taking up the game and even playing at the highest level here in Australia?

So are you really a septic Bigjoe? These post's are kind of suspicious. And what kind of 'Footy' are you referring to in Australia? What Australian sports have you watched?

Dumbo has a point .
People from other sports seem to have no trouble playing AFL ...top level ..
Even with no background at all
Ball skills are not required ..
Kicking straight is not really a necessity ..you get a point for missing
Catching ..don't worry about that ...you don't get penalised for fumbling .
So I'm sure there's some unco yanks who would do well at fumbleball

Re: NEW KID ON THE BLOCK HERE
Super theory there numbskull. If both teams have 20 shots at goal and one kicks 15 goals 5 points compared to the other team with 12 8 points, who wins? How is missing a reward there champ?AFLcrap1 wrote:Big joe

Dont get penalised for fumbling? In RL you only get penalised for fumbling forward. There's no penalty at all for fumbling backwards.

Lol
Just lol
You get one unco point because you can't kick straight between the two giant sticks
Other sports ..no
There's no one point for nearly being good enough .
Plus there's no crossbar to get over .

It's pretty simple mate, the team that makes the most out of their scoring opportunities wins. The reward for being less accurate is losingAFLcrap1 wrote:Lol

Re: NEW KID ON THE BLOCK HERE
There is no doubt that rewarding failure by giving a point for missing is a major flaw in AFL. It makes it a laughing stock to other sports. And using an oval ball is a mistake. The players just can't handle it and the fumbling mess on the ground looks nothing like a professional sport, more like schoolgirls scrapping over a handbag.Xman wrote:It's pretty simple mate, the team that makes the most out of their scoring opportunities wins.
