It got me thinking, as beep tests is one of best ways to know your level of stamina and fitness.
I know AFL players properly have a higher average.
But does anyone know/where to find recent/last averages and records for clubs of both codes?
Very curious to see not just the better results in AFL but club differences.
Sam Thaiday was a surprisingly strong performer in the beep test, recording 18.5.
Hooker Andrew McCullough still holds the record with 22.

Re: Beep test. AFL and NRL
You have seen a game of rugby league before, right!!Intentcity wrote:NRL players are awesome athletes, no doubt about it, but when it comes to a beep test AFL players would destroy them, but the beep test isn't a test NRL clubs would be overly interested in, you're talking 85kg athletes to 100kg athletes with totally different requirements. Endurance sport v power sport.
Yes league is a power sport, however for the guys that play the full game with only one break after 40 mins and then do the same for another 40 minutes, they are basically doing the beep test over 10 metre for 80 minutes. So I am not sure why you would think they would struggle in comparison to a AFL player. A marathon would be more suited to a AFL player, but I would suggest a beep test is more aligned to Rugby league type conditioning. Short burst, short recovery.

Re: Beep test. AFL and NRL
Is this guy serious lol? Everywhere I am looking average for league players is 13-14. Which is not bad. I'm quite sure, Aussie Rules players have a much higher stamina level. They need to anyway, one of the top sports in the world with high average km traveled throughout the game.Dogs wrote:http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl ... 1457792136docker24 wrote:Walked past Concord oval yesterday morning and saw the first grade West tigers do a beep test.

Still avoiding why you went off topic .
Yet then have a go at someone replying to your off topic rant .
It's all in the first few posts in this thread .
Do you have any comprehension .
Apparently not.
& no one gives a fuck what time you get out of bed in your pretend world .

Re: Beep test. AFL and NRL
My guess with the level of professionalism for both sports it would be similar to one another - as the same goes for RU and soccer - where the AFL players would take the lead would be in the area of time trials which would be as you suggest the longer distances.docker24 wrote:Could someone please step in and post some legitimate and genuine facts. Billy Slater won the Rexona ironman challenge from representatives of all football codes within Australia- and what's more he did it very easily.Swans4ever wrote:My guess with the level of professionalism for both sports it would be similar to one another - as the same goes for RU and soccer - where the AFL players would take the lead would be in the area of time trials which would be as you suggest the longer distances.docker24 wrote:Could someone please step in and post some legitimate and genuine facts. The real question is who smelt better after the events.
Your first contestant that Billy exposed as an unco was Bert Dildo .
There is a thread at LU where the afl crowd were claiming how dildo would smash every one .
Lol it was hilarious .
This ELITE Award winning supposed supreme athlete ..all Australian ...lol 4n20 sausage roller got smashed
This is the very same dildo that was proclaimed by the fumble media as matching it with Usain Bolt if he took up athletics.
Sadly that's the bubble that fumblers live in
Bert dildo got shown up & he was one of your best .
Poor old RUHIV never came Back to LU after that .
Classic thread

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Many AFL players are fine overall athletes. He didn't really represent AFL well.
Wasn't aware of the lead up following that years challenge, who talked him up?

He is also a freak who could play any sport athletes like him are not common and it was also 5 years ago and was for commercial purposes - Billy at his prime the AFL player a rookie not exactly a fair comparison or a scientific test so as much as you like to rely on one thing to prove your argument you might want to find something else!pussycat wrote:Billy Slater won the Rexona ironman challenge from representatives of all football codes within Australia- and what's more he did it very easily.Swans4ever wrote:My guess with the level of professionalism for both sports it would be similar to one another - as the same goes for RU and soccer - where the AFL players would take the lead would be in the area of time trials which would be as you suggest the longer distances.docker24 wrote:Could someone please step in and post some legitimate and genuine facts.
