Walked past Concord oval yesterday morning and saw the first grade West tigers do a beep test.

It got me thinking, as beep tests is one of best ways to know your level of stamina and fitness.

I know AFL players properly have a higher average.

But does anyone know/where to find recent/last averages and records for clubs of both codes?

Very curious to see not just the better results in AFL but club differences.

NRL players are awesome athletes, no doubt about it, but when it comes to a beep test AFL players would destroy them, but the beep test isn't a test NRL clubs would be overly interested in, you're talking 85kg athletes to 100kg athletes with totally different requirements. Endurance sport v power sport.

You have seen a game of rugby league before, right!!
Yes league is a power sport, however for the guys that play the full game with only one break after 40 mins and then do the same for another 40 minutes, they are basically doing the beep test over 10 metre for 80 minutes. So I am not sure why you would think they would struggle in comparison to a AFL player. A marathon would be more suited to a AFL player, but I would suggest a beep test is more aligned to Rugby league type conditioning. Short burst, short recovery.

Is this guy serious lol? Everywhere I am looking average for league players is 13-14. Which is not bad. I'm quite sure, Aussie Rules players have a much higher stamina level. They need to anyway, one of the top sports in the world with high average km traveled throughout the game.
