Been a bit busy of late so haven't been able to make a new post for a while but it's impossible to ignore this issue any longer.
The AFL brand.
Folks it's not in disarray, it's not on a downward spiral, it's not even down in the dumps. No.
It's shot to fuckin pieces and here's how.
1. Andy D's delusions of grandeur in his ten point plan back in 2005 that "every young australian man will choose AFL as his sport of choice" has backfired severely. Their associated expansion plan has effectively created a comp which is lopsided to fukkin billio with numerous games each week nothing more than professionals versus amateurs.
2. The essendon drug saga (and don't forget there's several other clubs involved but essendon have been outed/scapegoated). This catastrophe for the AFL brand is also ongoing and years old now. It's involved and shown another great golden boy of the game to be an utter drop kick, yet the AFL have welcomed him back. It's soured one of the AFL's most illustrious clubs forever more. It's shown the AFL to be a desperate org trying to cover up its filthy underbelly.
3. The thousands upon thousands of 'australian of the year' haters who frequent every game outside of sydney/rl heartland. These racist **** have and the AFL's continual inability to address racism in its staff shows what they call the Australian football league to be a front runner for the most un australian organisations of the 21st century.
Yes folks. The brand is shot to pieces. That's a fact so I don't want to discuss this with you mah members. No I would like to pose a specific question to the AFL lads.
In light of the 3 points/realities I have outlined above, how do you guys think the next AFL tv deal will go?
