Is funny how AFL always talk about crowds when their own crowds were down 13% in 2014.
No they werent. Home and away season crowds ended UP 0.5%, Finals crowds were UP 3.3% and overall crowds were up 2.2%. In other words, you completely made that shit up.
And Carlton had the lowest crowd in 10 years just in May this year.
For a single game. For one club. As opposed to the NRL which as a league is at its lowest point in a decade. A club woefully out of form against a club with no latent victorian support.
GWS Giants crowds and membership are all down on last year.
Half right.GWS Crowds are actually up in total - although there isnt much in it - 9,264 ave to 9,226. Memberships are down true, from 13,047 to 12,680.
AFL really don't have that much to crow about when they look at how some of their own clubs are doing.
And you, with a strike rate of 50% just in this post, dont know what the fuck you are talking about.
Wooks GWS crowds are down from when they started in 2013. They had 9701 averages then.
So technically GWS CROWDS AND MEMBERSHIP ARE DOWN. So no half truthes there.
Hardly a club that is growing when you top that off with extra AFL funding and loss of sponsorship revenue.
So with figures like that GWS fans don't have that much to crow about.
While I am not certain what AFLs total attendance all up is.
As of round 15 records last year in 2014
MCG CROWDS DOWN CLOSE TO 9%
ETIHAD STADIUM DOWN 13%
OVERAL 300,000 LESS PEOPLE ATTENDED AFL GAMES IN MELBOURNE FROM JULY THAT PREVIOUS YEAR.
Sure NRL crowds are down. But all 3 state of Origins have out rated every AFL game this year and gotten record crowds.
Club Challenge crowds are up.
Grand final crowd was up.
4 nations was up.
Also they got a bigger crowd in Melbourne than any AFL game in NSW and QLD in history.
Rugby league and the NRL have support in so many other game areas AFL will never have.
That is a fact.
