Gold Coast is going well for aussie rules and the two sports are not seen as mutually exclusive. A lot of kids play both. In fact, the development officer for nrl, his kids all play AFL and rl. They prefer AFL but have to play rl. It's good the kids have a choice.

Seriously, the reality is AFL get bigger crowds than nrl. Nrl crowds are woeful. Ratings, Wookie constantly says AFL win overall. Membership ... AFL biggest. Yet all these are ignored by many nrl folk.

AFL continue to try and build a market in an rl heartland ... This is hard and a long way to go... But they have definitely created a market in these areas . How big? Not sure but a market nonetheless.

The NRL put out figures already for the reg season and said the ratings were down a bit (not taking into account the millions of downloads of NRL apps in ratings place) something like 3.6 million over the season which is stuff all considering two FTA games are delayed and one late at night.

Hell as I said before, putting the sunday game as live would more than make up for those ratings alone let alone the apps these days where you can watch the footy anywhere.

So where are these AFL articles crowing about their big win over the NRL reg season?

why is the NRL decades behind in every other area.
ffs even the apps of the 2 codes, wookie posted 2 articles about it, a whole ago, showed the AFL had nearly twice as many subscribers and it as been downloaded nearly twice as much than the NRL app!
add in the NRL lags behind in, revenue, crowds, membership, sponsorship & merchandise. the NRL are decades behind.
