Because 80k die hard supporters is all they've got!!!!! You can easily account for SOO works out to less than 5k supporters per club and what's the average crowd - 15k so there you go! That's why their selling GF tickets months out from the GF, SOO tickets 12 months out from SOO - so all those dole bludgers that follow RL can save up their new start allowance to buy a ticket - but even this hasn't helped for finals so they drop the prices to nothing!

So VFL and the SANFL both had larger crowds for their GF than ANY NRL final so far this year???? That really does put NRL into perspective - really immaterial really!

I do believe the popularity at lower levels on their respective pyramids for AR and Soccer coincide with their higher participation rates from grass roots and up, than RL

a 2k crowd for a NPL(Fully amateur soccer side) vs an interstate amateur side for instance. You do not see the same thing for NSW Cup RL games. I assume it's the same with the QLD Cup.

And then you AR state finals which draw very good crowds, many that dwarf NRL teams...all season long as well - it's just a different kettle of fish when you compare it to grass roots Rugby League

South are still around! They play in the Victorian Premier League(NPL). They have a decent amount of money and tried to buy Melbourne Heart before their bid lost out to Manchester City

Gippsland aren't around anymore unfortunately :(

The FFA Cup is brilliant, it engages soccer fans at all levels and builds a bridge from amateur to professionals. A lot of credit needs to go to David Gallop. Our old boss kept putting it off and more and more soccer fans at lower levels felt more disconnected with the game. But Gallop has been a huge breathe of fresh air.

Games are televised on FOX and the ratings have been quite good for soccer! The last game out-rated the WSW ACL game in China :)
