It rates second in Australia to Rugby League, it rates second to Rugby League in Australasia, be happy that your home grown sport (stolen in the aussie way from everyone elses left overs) does as well as it does. It out rates Union in this area of the world and they have 1 or 2 genuine heartlands of that sport to themselves out here.

No need to keep talking crap though.

Rugby League is the highest rating sport in this area of the world year in year out.
Rubbish. The AFL dont have a fixed schedule in the last weeks of the season, the nRL do. The major difference in ratings for the last weeks of the season is how relevant the games are to the coming finals. Where were you 3 or 4 weeks ago when the AFL had won something like 9 out of 10 Friday nights?

The AFL choses it Draw for the first 23 weeks at the start of the year , and yes, the NRL only the first 20weeks. But the NRL doesnt exclude any of its bottom sides from the prime Friday timeslot,

If you look back to the the pre Origin period you will see that we won something like 8 of the first 10. We have also done better in the post origin period. You may have dominated the Friday night timeslot during the Origin period but the NRL, and its viewers, were focused on Origin - the envy of every of all other Austalian sport.

The AFL put all its eggs in one basket. Dont confuse that with being successful. It's only through sheer weight of numbers that you are able to accumulate more ratings than 70-75% of the NRL.

no the NRL puts all its eggs in the one basket.

simple it has more viewers. plain and simple!
you bumsniffers are so protective about your regionals each week, yet the AFL arnt allowed to include theirs.

the rating system is crap, ever wonder why the AFL makes millions more in merchandise & bums on seats than the NRL

its easy to crap on about all of these invisible fans that the NRL apparently has but all of the figures quote other wise :?> :-k
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

How thick are you, RL gets less FTA games shown in less areas, and when they are shown, at least two of them are delayed (more in some areas if they get the games at all in SA and WA, Tas and Vic when ch9 play funny buggers with coverage) and when they are not delayed like we have seen in the last four weeks, RL has smashed the AFL in FTA TV ratings.

There are more televised games of AFL every bloody week because of sheer numbers of teams participating.

The National Rugby League by rights should not be anywhere near your code and the fact that it is and when all games of Rugby League are taken into account it actually spanks your sport and your sport still has more live FTA games over the season than Rugby League all up, Rugby League easily wins still.

You watch ch9 and 10 keeping an eye on Thursday night Rugby League, if you think RL has sold even a 10th of what it can, again, you have rocks in your head. For crying out loud, your sport had to expand and promise the world to fox and ch7 to get what they did last time, and they still came second in the ratings again just like they have been doing for ages.

When someone is watching Rugby League in Australia, it doesn't bloody matter at the end of the season which part of it they watched. They watched it regardless be it RL 9's, Charity shield, World Club Challenge, NRL, SOO, ANZAC Test, Kangaroos in the 4 Nations, it's all Rugby League

Got it yet?

I follow Rugby League, not just NRL, I follow all of it.

Channel 9 and Fox sports paid for and show the Professional game of Australian Rugby League, not some of it, all of it.

the AFL on TV is more than a Friday night game. Because it has teams in 5 states it takes an acccunulation of games over the weekend to show their dominace properly, especially because not all games ae shown to each market. having said that i bet the AFL won the majority of FN ratings despite the fact it was up agaibst two nrl games combined

and plays their largest team the Broncos on 80% of frida nights. this effectively engages their two bigges audiences in one night. The AFL cant do that because of the time difference from Perth to the east coast. Thats one reason its silly to compare one FTA game. The game engaging the bigges heartland audence usually wins. this is especially the case in Perth because their live Friday night broadcast starts at 5.30pm in a secondary digital channel when most people would be at work or travelling home. How is tha a fair comparison of true audience?

Thats because, just like your Perth, Adelaide, Vic , Sydney - Qld gets a live game . Given that the only live game(s) is played on Friday night thats when they get there game. But unlike Adelaide.Perth, Vic, Brisbane they only get 1 live game shown in there market.

So Perth get to watch there game live and/or on 7 after tea. think of all the people who drop in to there local for a schooner after work , watch the match live on PTV and than enjoy the replay on 7 That would be double counting but we both know that doesn't go on :(/

That's just silly. Firstly, how many would watch a game at the pub then go home and watch it!? Seriously. But just let's say there are a small few who do, what's the chances that they have a set top box. Also, in the unlikely circumstances that it does happen you would have all those watching in the pub not bring counted but still watching .
I in myspare time I like playing baseball, wearing pink backpacks and STALKING people.I know this isn't what you would normallyshare in public but I thought it would be nice tobe honest and open so people knowmore about who I am

Why are you saying that its silly, and basically it's ridiculous to even suggest that such a thing could ever happen, and then following that up with the words" in the unlikely circumstances" . It sounds to me that someone is a little unsure - maybe a possibility you don't want to face.

I've been to a few pubs over the years and its been a long time since I've been to one that didn't have set top box.

If your selected by oztam/regional tam your required to type in much of the viewing data, Such as how many are watching .

The Miss's may want you home by six. or you may be a Cats fan and want to re-watch Richmonds tremendous victory.

Let's play a game called how irrelevant are the storm
  • More sydney siders watched the Essendon vs North game, than melbournites watched the storm on friday night
More brisbaneites watched the Sydney vs Fremantle game than melbournites watched the storm on friday night
More Brisbaneites watched the Essendon vs North Game, than melbournites watched the storm on friday night
More Sydneysiders watched the Sydney vs Fremantle game, than melbournites watched the storm on friday night

Ohh and look at those sydney swans figures.. Just impressive! Once you include fox footy. The numbers will easily be over 200k in sydney alone!

Just impressive =D> =D> =D>
Are you trying to make out you are stupid or does it just come naturally.
You are comparing a FINALS GAME to a Reg season game.

You have already done that once ignored the fact that when NRL last RD of regular season is compared to AFL last Rd of Reg season ,NRL easily won..
Lol you guys compare Origin matches to regular AFL ones all the fucking time.

Oh boo hoo expert on everything, Rugby League is the sport I and the rest watch in bigger numbers than AFL, deal with it and stop your bloody lying for once.

What else do you have though? Regular season matches are only about 75% of the NRL. Surely its fair to include 100% of both codes.
