the VFL's clubs are in 150 Million of combined debt
the VFL has barely any money to bank as profits these days as a result of these failing clubs
while the NRL popped 50 mill into its account :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\:

at this rate the NRL will have 200 million plus in cash by 2017
the VFL
a paltry 30 million    :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<> :_<>

one code is going places
the other is the VFL
You've been caught out on this before. I wonder where the 150 million combined debt figures come from.

Yes the NRL banked 49 million in profit last year, the AFL only banked 16 million - the AFL already had 89 million in its Future fund, and several million scattered throughout various infrastucture and reserve funds.

The NRL might have 200 million in the bank in 5 years - after all if you dont want progress you dont spend it, but sooner or later clubs come knocking for funding and infrastructure needs, players want pay rises. The AFL spends more on clubs yes, but it also spends more on development and second tier competition. It spends more on infrastructure, and it obviously spends more on expansion. It also entirely funds the AFLPA.

One code is going places, and the NRL is desperately trying to catch up in financial terms. AFL HQ makes 500+ million for the year. The NRL 314.3 million. The AFL makes more money from non broiadcast revenue than it does from broadcast revenue (267 million - 234 million), the NRL makes a paltry 90 million in comparison to its broadcast revenue of 221 million)

Clubs on the other hand are a slightly different story. There is a lot in liabilities yes, but debts themselves arent an actual problem as long as the level is sustainable, at the moment only two or three clubs have unsustainable levels of debt (Brisbane and Port, possibly the Bulldogs). If we are going to talk about debt levels, perhaps the fact that League HQ has liabilities of 123 million, as opposed to the AFLs 50 million - which is incidentally the AFLs guarantees on club lines of credit, and as such is also included in club liabilities - not to mention guaranteeing lines of credit for ANZ Stadium, various state competitions and the AFLPA.

  :(/ :(/ :(/ :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<>

the NRL is trying to ...........catch up is it ? :-k

yes
40 million more dollars in profits &
they're the ones behind apparently :?>

the level of club debt in the VFL is a monumental problem & this is directly why the VFL is now posting profits far lower then 5 years ago
it is putting fingers in Dykes everywhere
the bank guarantee amount rose from 33 million in 2013 .... to 42 million for this season
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/AFL/t ... 6862624584
it will almost certainly rise past 50 Million for 2015
VFL clubs are not getting better at balancing their budgets ... they are getting worse
& the VFL's reserves are disappearing as a result so the VFL needs every cent it earns , it is not in a comfortable position at all.

the NRL on the other hand is being fiscally responsible , as are most of its clubs
its turnover when placed against expenditure has it doing these :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\: :\:
watch its bank balance sky rocket as it continues to increase revenues & control spending

like I said
one code is going places

the other is the VFL
How about you fuck off and come back when you have a clue.

You carry on like debt is a bad thing, but again its only bad if you cant pay it off, which most clubs appear to be doing just fine at the moment, again with the exceptions being Brisbane and Port Adelaide.

& they & the VFL .............. are dying before our eyes
The way I see it RD is every AFL club is doing fine with the exception of Brisbane. Collingwood, West Coast, Fremantle and Adelaide are powerhouses. Essendon is a similar powerhouse club and they have lost money recently, however they have big assets and will continue to make big money into the future. Richmond are big, Sydney will make big money this year and will do well financially into the future Port have come good in a big way as they will tell everyone at the end of the year when all of their revenue is worked out. Some of the smaller Vic clubs have minor debts. They look big to you but for businesses that turn over 30+ million a year, the debt is small. Even GWS and a Gold Coast are tracking as expected and although they are not flush, they are fully funded for the forseeable future. The AFL makes so much money that if a club truly got into major debt then they are in a position to bale them out.
much of the debts of the AFL clubs comes from upgrading admin & training facilities
Carlton, have spent 15 odd million in training facilities at optus oval
colliingwood continue to spend millions as the west pack center
Essendon has just spent 30 million plus out at tullarmarine
richmond has spent millions up grading punt road oval
north have done likewise at arden street
Geelong is about to do something in Geelong.

as for the NRL clubs, council & tax payers pay for ground & infrastructure upgrades, the clubs build league clubs to fund the rugby clubs & are still millions in debt trying to come up with the 15 odd million to fund the NRL club even though 7 million comes from the NRL commission
penrith are 80 million in debt
newcastle are millions in debt
the storm are millions
the NRL commission are paying the rent for the titan after the ATO where going to close the club down
the sharks couldn't get an extension on their 9 million of debt, a pizza shop owner game them a few million.

yes but it is government collected data, not from any of the codes
so in that 5 years,
the AFL has expanded in to different markets
the NRL has not
so you think all of a sudden the figures will read differently NRL is the most popular game?

I don't know why you bother arguing with this twit 1st total club debt is 90 mil that's 5 mil per club - yet each club generates more that 20 mil each per year - hardly an issue and most of it relates to infrastructure and upgrade 2nd he doesn't know how much the NRL clubs owe and never will - which means he's talking out of his arse!!!! The NRL only wish they had the crowds, members and revenue which the AFL have and the financial stability they have enjoyed for 20 yrs!!!!

The swans rate about 90-100k regularly when fox and FTA are included.

Note half way down the page the ratings for multichannels like 7mate. Not a single show rates over 100k!

Any comment?

NRL
2009 dumbo.
5+ yrs old.
But it probably only seems like yesterday to your metho soaked mind.

Just like SOO eats you mob up ,so does the fact that Touch Footy is the non contact form of RL .
Not everyone is built to play a collision sport like RL.
So we have a softer option called Touch.
& if that's too rough you can play AFL

:))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :))) :)))
yes but it is government collected data, not from any of the codes
so in that 5 years,
the AFL has expanded in to different markets
the NRL has not
so you think all of a sudden the figures will read differently NRL is the most popular game?
not a hope in hell
NRL has lost ground in those 5 years
simply because its a boring shit product, something what fat little thugs play :)))

ahhhhh
the VFL has all but gone broke in that 5 years you dribbling lying fucktard :^o :^o :^o :^o :^o
that's all we need to consider here

give it 5 more
& it will have gone broke
