Deadlies - NRL Player :)

Just curious who here votes for the Deadlies each year and if you nominate and how you nominate.

Or have you just voted against the nominated list only

I feel that players that have been around and contributed a lot to the sport dont get nominated and it annoys me.

I would like to see players like

Preston Campbell
David Peachey
Rhyse Wesser

get this award as they have contributed so much to the sport and are all great players and have proved themselves over the years.

Its great to see a lot of young talent but why give an award to someone who has only been around 5 minutes I want to see more experianced players get rewarded for their contribution to the sport and what they have acheived over the years

More Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have represented Australia in RL than in other sport....

Its great that so many young kids want to play the game, and when you consider the likes of Inglis, Thurston, Bowen and Merritt ( as well as hundreds of others), coming through the ranks, the future of RL is looking bright...

Oh come on Willis, gotta love that spin you put on with your line about representing Australia and Rugby League. As for participation rates in Australia, there would be no doubt that Australian Rules attracts many more Indigenous players than Rugby League Australia wide.

Now as for the Deadly Awards, my experience when attending has been that the awards are very Sydney centric.

I suspected you were fishing with your comments above Willis. Still have my doubts about you comments regarding participation numbers but I shall leave that for perhaps another thread in the fight club if it arises.

Ok there is an AFL player of the year as well I think O'Laughlan won it the year before last and Adam Goodes last year

After his recent run in with the law, on top of being suspended by already. Not a chance. Unless these awards encourage violence which I doubt.

How about Lance Franklin? This kid will be the next big thing in the AFL. (Aboriginal or non-aboriginal)

And it is great to see a former Dragon be one of the men involved in aboriginal's in league..

Ricky Walford was and is my all time favorite league player, if he is able to teach them 1 thing, club loyality would be his forte.

Well well well I am unaware of the AFL structures unlike the NRL but and Rugby League in NSW and Qld is more represented by ABoriginal people .... In the CRL group 10 Bubba Kennedy still is seen in action in Group 11 Blaine Stanley is running around for Wellington,,, the statistics in the NRL are very high

As for the deadlies

David Peachey gets my vote he was loyal too bad the sharks weren't and his work on and off the field should be recognised
