Yeah so as it stands we have Xman and Tpg that have never played our great game yet think they can pass judgement on it lol ignorant just doesn't cut it to describe these two Muppets
So I need to have played your "great" game to understand how poor the crowds, memberships, revenue, and media interest are compared to AFL? :?

I certainly don't need to play it to see what a boring game it is to watch!

From a self professed ARs player who thinks the reserves are the guys on the bench? #-o Hardly! [-X

This, and other ARs 'clangers' youve come out with on here, prove your entire story is full of crap!

I'm sorry you feel this way Xman. Fact is, you're wrong yet again. Whether I'm up to date on the lingo has no impact on whether or not i play the game. An example in RL would be jamal idris who stated he doesnt even watch RL. Now you dont need to pounce on this like a kitten on cotton wool xman, he loves the game he just has other interests he pursues rather than watching it. I've only been round the marngrook scene for a relatively short period compared to league, hence my occassional mishap on terminology.

I took some bloody great marks on the weekend and apart from being caught with the ball/incorrect disposal twice (mainly due to teammates providing no verbal cue that i was 'hot' ) every disposal was clean, to my teammates advantage and received cleanly. Show some respect Xman cause you'd have to if you were ever marking up on me [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X

Good on you for having a go KE. So whats it like having to get rid of the ball when you are tackled rathing then just holding on to it? Do you find that a challenge?

Thanks piesman. Finally a marngrook fan with some ticker. You'd make a decent mod!

It is fairly different having to get rid of the ball and takes some getting used to. You have to be really alert of your surroundings before you get the pill as being caught with the thing really is a let down so im gunna be working on this/keeping aware of this at training this week. It needs quick thinking and teammates who know good positioning most of all i reckon, quicker thinking than in RL where you have the safety of going to ground if your teamates arent presenting for the ball.

I note that I have been accused of knowing nothing about thugby simply because I've never played it. Why should I? I'm not into wanton violence - that's why I call the "game" thugby!

TBH I've never been any good at any ball sports. This is because my hand to eye co-ordination isn't up to scratch. To remain involved in footy I became an umpire and I have never regretted that decision because it allowed me to participate in the only way I could. Now I can tell you that one time as a part of promoting umpires as good guys, I went to a club training session - and I tried my hand at reffing an impromptu thugby league game. You know what? Just based on what I had seen on TV while I was living in Canberra I found it dead easy! What does THAT tell you?

From KE's description of his style, he should have copped a suspension by now. So I find myself seriously questioning whether or not he is actually playing now. Unless he's playing in a really low grade with club umpires who aren't properly trained.

TLPG I admire your honesty here but have to pull you up on your questioning of my play. I'm as fair a player as it gets on the footy field. Never have i intentionally played against the rules in any of the sports I've played at club level including soccer, bball, rugby union, rugby league, marngrook and gaelic footy. Can you point to my "description of my playing style" where i "should have copped a suspension by now"?

Considering my playing style and your response to it, you should have copped a suspension by now as an umpire. So I find myself seriously questioning whether or not you actually are an umpire...unless you are umpiring in a really low grade as an umpire who isnt properly trained. [-X

I have a Level Two accreditation, KE. It will be updated very soon (I've had that accreditation for some time) and is compulsory for league appointed umpires as distinct from club umpires.

Your description shows you are playing the man and not the ball. That is NOT within the rules and should be penalised. Anyone who plays the man and is caught cops a suspension. Rule 19.2.2 g vii states as a reportable offence;
"Intentionally, recklessly or negilgently engaging in rough conduct against an opponent which in the circumstances is unreasonable"

Playing the man is unreasonable circumstances and is negligent.

You havent pointed to where i described I play the man not the ball? And in any case, I would hope tackling an opponent fair and square into the turf is not considered by any umpire "unreasonable". I have been pulled up once though for 'finishing a guy off' when he'd already released the ball. Fair enough i spose but i had no idea he'd released the ball so honest mistake, not intentional.

Bolded and underlined what was unreasonable and reportable. That imputes you went for the man and not the ball.

Not when you drive them into the ground like you described it's not! Like I said - reportable.

There must be some mugs umpiring your games - have to be club umpires.
