yeah i would say it is acceptable for both the clubs>> it is on the high side for FTA figures outside of Finals for these 2 clubs.

Swans double the population of Brisbane and still getting the same figures is interesting..
The Swans can be a very difficult team to watch. Thursday night being another example of the Swans being awful and frustrating to watch. Totally outclassed by a resurgent Brisbane Lions. ☹️

Still better ratings for Channel 7 compared to past weeks and up against the NRL involving two Sydney based teams with big supporter bases.

The Suns were again embarrassing and awful to watch against the Dockers, in a time slot that is more suited to the WA market as a lead into the 6pm news over there.

Can you believe the Suns kicked just 3 goals for the entire game. 3 goals… seriously who’d wanna watch them over the 6pm news and other primetime programs in Brisbane?

Something is seriously amiss with the team - they have a great team of players but the team is not gelling at all. And for the coach to have that response (as per picture above), as soon as I saw it live I was like "what" - it was if he was making a joke of it - sitting outside of it - looking on - not as the leader of the team - as if he was saying "look at what I have here". - and implies - "I'm not part of this", If I was a player I would be pissed - and I think it may be symbolic of the issues at the club unfortunately. I have little doubt a coach like McCrea would bring a great deal more cohesion to the team - that they play for each other - that a goal is a team goal - not an individual effort - that shot is just Dimma playing to the camera - and delineating himself from the team.

Prior to last week I had the Suns possibly winning this one. Thought they did okay against the Hawks - and thought at home against a variable Magpies, they could take this one. Now - not so sure.

Thursday 2 July

The Grand Final rematch in the AFL was a high scoring game with the Brisbane Lions defeating the Geelong Cats. The game was broadcast on Seven’s main channel in all markets, with the exception being 7mate in Perth. The average rating of 747k was up 50k on last week’s game.

SEVEN’S AFL: THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Seven 2,290,000 747,000 108,000

Sydney 43,000
Melbourne 246,000
Brisbane 77,000
Adelaide 71,000
Perth 66,000

Seven won Brisbane where the AFL easily outrated the NRLW on Nine.

The NRL Women’s Premiership kicked off with the Newcastle Knights defeating the Cronulla Sharks and an average audience of 279k, almost 300k less than last week’s men’s game. In non NRL states there was main channel Wimbledon coverage.

THURSDAY NIGHT NRLW Nine 1,279,000 279,000 51,000

For Sydney - with no team playing -that’s not too bad a rating me thinks. Brisbane outrating Adelaide and Perth too. Then again - it’s only FTA and Susie t most people on Fox or kayo l.
