Rugby sinking further down the gurgler. Some of the language from Foxtel boss Patrick Delaney should scare the shite outta Rugby admin:He says they're going to be " very brutal in terms of what is really needed for our subscribers and what's not." And they're going" to be harsher on what stays and what goes."

Basically he's saying Rugby will have to take whatever paltry offer Foxtel makes or they can take a run and jump......and he doesn't care that much if they do.

That is disaster for Rugby. Their bargaining power is nil. And if they're not on Fox they won't be seen in clubs and pubs around the country. Actually its disaster on disaster!!!!

oh yeah, its massive news from FOX towards Rugby Australia.

being that they will not match the $30million by Optus per year.

even when they paid 57million per year>>>> already a huge drop.

(Rugby H.Q may have to take a discount offer from FOX
than risking being on OPTUS SPORT>

Yep. It's difficult to see how Aus Rugby is gonna get out of this massive black hole. They're already in dire financial straights. The admin is in tatters after the Folau fall out. The Wallabies are in free fall & Super Rugby crowds and TV ratings are the lowest ever.

And it looks like things are just gonna get worse.

i see more dark days for RU well into the future.

i think the only thing saving RU from from not falling further, is the 2027 World CUP potentially..
which could give a huge boost to the wallabies and grassroots

(i would say the A league would be in the same scenario but they lucked out with a 6 year deal instead of 4

I think ru is doing well overseas ... just seems in Australia it struggles. With afl expanding into its traditional markets, players going overseas to play, and simply being in a crowded market place... its little wonder they struggle really.

Rugby Union is doing great overseas.

but like you said it doesn't have the competition it has here in Australia.

Rugby League and Rugby Union are rivals,
and in Sydney and Brisbane Rugby League is really giving Union a Beating..

Rugby Union like you stated is also affected with Sydney Swans making inroads into Sydney's North Side.
