Well, something we can both agree on. I know right...

It also appears even the soccer club CEOs are concerned with the year on year decline in tv audiences.

Victory CEO “shocked” and “concerned” by A-League TV audiences

Melbourne Victory CEO Trent Jacobs admits he was “shocked” by the poor TV ratings from their Australia Day clash against Sydney FC, 1116 SEN reported last week.

The Big Blue encounter on Saturday night attracted just 31,000 Fox Sports viewers and Jacobs believes the poor numbers can be put down to a couple of reasons.

Jacobs says FFA and A-League chiefs are working together to try and arrest the league-wide ratings slide.

“Year-on-year they’re down now,” he added.

“It is an issue and as I mentioned it’s an issue for a number of codes. It’s certainly something that is being discussed in CEO meetings and no doubt trying to be addressed in a number of different ways.”

A League are very lucky they got a long term deal locked away..

as this could of been devastating if a deal was coming up for next season..

They will be bent over a barrel by fox next time
As,they will be the only ones interested & won't pay nearly as much .
Best thing sokka can do is get rid of Gallop .
He's useless ..you'd think watching him stumble & bumble when in charge of RL would have been enough for sokka to put a red line through his name ..
Lol no let's hire him .

yeah spot on.. Fox wanted something over the Summer Period, with no cricket at the time.
and with games in the mark of 60k to 100k at the time, FOX were repared to pay that extra they did.
little did they know, ratings would fall by over 100% !!!!

but yeah, be interesting to what it amounts to, cause at this rate, its worth what the NBL is getting..
when you factor in all the extra costs its takes to broadcast a A League game to NBL

Axing Gallop was the best thing Rugby League ever did in the past 9 years.

(as we get closer to the NRL & AFL Season lets see if the A League can actually get lower than it actually is getting.

What are the popular kids shows these days
A few years ago paw patrol & doc Mcstuffins would rate about 50k & that's where theAL usually sat .

Any popular kids show would smash the AL now ..& cost a lot less

Rumours abound about Fox Sports wanting to cease broadcasting the A-League. Apparently even offering $80 million to the FFA to get out of broadcasting soccer.

https://forum.insidesport.com.au/276221 ... ern-United
Last week, only 29,000 watched Western Sydney Wanderers beat Adelaide United on the Saturday night timeslot while Newcastle Jets win over Melbourne City on Friday night attracted 18,000 viewers on Fox Sports.

Last season had an average ratings of 51,000 for each game while the 2016-17 season average audience was 63,000 per match. The A-League's peak average rating on Fox Sports was almost 75,000 in the 2012-13 season which included Alessandro Del Piero at Sydney FC and the birth of Western Sydney Wanderers.

The FFA has entered negotiations for a new free-to-air partnership for next season with its partnership with Channel1 0 yet to attract a broader reach.

The A-League has been televised live on 10 for the past two seasons after Fox Sports purchased the FTA component, moving it to 10 as part of its former partnership with the network. The current agreement doesn't encourage promotion from 10 with sources suggesting Fox Sports retains the bulk of advertising revenue from Saturday night games.

interesting regarding Fox sports and the A League.

said it since day 1 they paid overs for the product..

i do not know what they were thinking..

they must of thought A League was bound to increase in figures by 20-30%

Except it has decreased by over 50%

Ouch

There was a lot of hype around the AL before the deal was done with fox .
Being talked up by plenty .
You'd think fox would be smarter than listen to hype .
But apparently not .
They paid massive overs .

yeah i kinda remember.. i don't know why though they were never hitting great numbers anyway..

Funny how the media works..

NRL would of been better if they held off a year.
AFL were probally perfect timing..
and FFA got in just in time...
