“Mass exodus of fans” eh?

Declining crowds and tv ratings for the NRL.
Here are the figures that should be sending shock waves through NRL

These are the figures that should be sending shock waves through the NRL as it continues to reel from its off-season from hell.

The television ratings for the first match of the season – the Indigenous All Stars game – suggest there has been a mass exodus of fans in the off-season.

Image
Exodus? Indigenous players celebrate a try in a match that failed to attract many viewers.

The match drew a combined audience on free-to-air and pay TV of only 552,000 viewers – 23 per cent lower than when the match was last played two years ago.

The NRL has lost 160,000 viewers since the game was last played. That’s despite the fact fans have been starved of football, the match was refreshed with a new format, it featured some of the biggest names in the game and turned out to be a quality contest.

will probably be your highest regular H&A game all year. First game, grand finalist, biggest club, no other sport on

I wish the AFL wouldnt schedule Carl v Rich at the start of every season. A terrible matchup involving one city only. Rarely rates well. Is rarely a good game

Incredible ratings!!!!!!! I fully expected a big drop after the pre-season we've had. Easily beat last years first game. Amazing Fox numbers considering it went on the blink in a lot of suburbs around Sydney!!!!
