and btw - well done finally getting a national audience nudging towards 2million for a game this year... nrl have had over double that already!! i know which game advertisers would prefer to spend their dosh on. here's a clue - the one with the bigger numbers.
Yeah really who do the advertisers like spending their money on tin foil hat person?
the most sought after demographic is anyone who has the word "crap" in their name. if a brand or sport can bag one of these apex humans and count them as a loyal follower, they're laughing all the way to the bank...

Thank you for your point of view tinfoil hat person.
Now advertisers and sponsors are spending their money like you said! What code collects more than the other code?

Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

yes, what we'll do is take the 4 games a year you get and use them as some sort of buffer against any sort of ratings criticism.

Oh and thank you wise sage. yes, tell us more about the advertising. In particular, the amount of advertising that can be shown during an AFL game as opposed to an NRL game - a fact which lead to discussion on adding breaks to NRL matches just so they could show more advertising.

While on the advertising, we can refer to the last lot and next lot of broadcast rights as to what broadcasters actually find more valuable - ill give you a hint, it doesnt seem to have been a rugby code at this point. And thats before i get to things like commercial radio rights and such.

(and lets not forget that while the AFL tv rights included the AFL preseason, premiership season and finals. The NRL rights included Nines, Charity shield and other preason games, NSW Cup/NSW schoolboys/Holden Cup/NRL premiership season/NRL finals/Origin/Tests.).

adding in 331k for fox and rounding up to 50k for NZ - total = 1.674m

The AFL pulled 1.39 million on Seven, and 432k on fox = 1.822m

That revised total still does not include Extra time, so is incorrect.

AFL 1.359m + 432k = 1.791
NRL 1.293m not including extra time + 331k = 1.624m without extra time and without NZ.

4 RUGBY LEAGUE FINAL SERIES SF1 -POST GAME Nine 834,000 SYD 382,000 BRI 452,000

Look at those extra time numbers, huge.

Add extra time and NZ and we have very comparable numbers.

1) extra time - sorry - post game - was counted as a separate timeslot
2) if you are counting it with the match time, the average audience is still carried over two broadcasts. Not one. Its not a simple a+b thing.
3) we can add Sevens AFL post match shit to the AFl total as well if you want to play this game. Do we add the prematch coverage in as well?

pretty basic Wookie - nrl dominates 2 of the top 3 ad markets in Australia. and despite have next to no presence in the southern states, and being mismanaged for the past 20-25 years, still sits just behind the afl in the amount of revenue generated from tv deals. given all the free kicks the afl has had to establish itself, you'd think it would have done a lot better. piss poor effort really and their forays into the GC and western sydney are going to end in tears.

nrl is simply a better game to watch on tv. it must hurt the afl die hards to admit it.

Christ you really are a peanut.

1. learn to fucking read I never fucking said it was included you twat - in fact I specifically said it wasnt - see point 1 - I said if you wanted to stack it up against the afls single match timeslot then youd have to average the fucking time over both, not just add it to the previous timeslots ratings.
