Xman and his clowns talking about how bad ratings were in round 1.

Without NZ sky numbers which usually ave out about 200k per week the NRL is up by 13% in round 1.

Add in NRL Sky NZ ratings and that % increase is over %20.

511 (239, 15, 235, 5, 17) + regionals 294 + fox233 = 1038

Not bad, considering we would get almost 150 from sky.
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

Every time you have no answer the crowd comments come out.

So in short the NRL has lost 1.5k per game in the last decade while the AFL has lost 5-6k per game over the same time period.

Anything else to add?

You going to acknowledge round 1 NRL being up close to %20..........

in that time the AFL have more than doubled the number of games in expansion states, so their average could only go down from such a high base. Theyve also grown for the last few years after the changes.

The NRL have dropped for the last 2 years straight and early signs are poor again. Yet what has changed? No expansion, nothing

I'll acknowledge the NRLs single round of ratings when you acknowledge their last few years of decline in crowds

you've had one game in one round that rated well, the others have been meh even with fox, that was supposedly going to boost your ratings enormously. I think you will increase ratings this year, mainly because youll have more Thursday games which rate better than a Friday game on delay

With Thursday and Monday nights the NRL aren't looking to increase crowd figure. There strategy to get more people interested in the game more people than watching. This, along with 1.6 billion$ the NSW government will invest in grounds will bad, bad, bad, for the Artsy Fartsy League and the Morons that follow it.

awesome strategy that. The NRL have put most of their focus on TV revenue but still get less than the AFL who put more of their focus on crowds. Basically we get more money from TV and WAY WAY more from crowds. Add these to the advantage we have in membership and sponsorship revenue. :\:

As for your NSW gov investment in grounds, Perth are also investing in a stadium that will see the eagles and dockers get around 50k per game, and near 70k for local derbies.
