When the nrl start getting ratings for its club games in Melbourne you may have a point. Marquee games and events will always draw high crowds. It would be like comparing the 2012 grand final ratings for afl and saying that's proof of the interest on afl. When rl gets a decent grass roots competition in Victoria with several leagues, when you can serendipitously drive around and see rl being played on weekends, when storm average 20000 to games in Vic etc etc .... A bit like afl has in Sydney, then maybe it is making in roads

Wednesday night, AFL SOO would draw a similar number in Sydney. It's a combination of no sporting competition, midweek and an event. The NRL grand final and AFL grand final are similar to this in their non heartland states.
