State Of Origin decider top ratings

THE bruising State Of Origin decider has produced a knockout blow in the TV ratings - setting a new record as the highest rating game in OzTam history.
Channel 9's league showcase hit a stunning peak of 4.825 million nationally (five city metro and regional), averaging 4.041 million viewers.
The five-city average of 2.68 million viewers (growing to a peak of 3.236m) set a record both for the match and the 2012 series, which was up 10.42 per cent across the three close encounters
Not surprisingly the game scored in Sydney and Brisbane, but also pulled its biggest ever audience in AFL-dominated Melbourne.
The blockbuster figures are also a win for the NRL, which is currently negotiating a new broadcasting rights deal, with some consideration being given to selling off State Of Origin as a seperate product to the weekly national competition.
Media analyst Steve Allen noted a slight drop in Brisbane audience numbers, putting the shift down to locals crowding pubs and clubs to watch the game (where OzTam cannot measure the viewer reach).

Re: State Of Origin decider top ratings
WOW! RL is officially becoming mandatory viewing for almost every man, woman and child living on this island. Nearly 5 million viewing the spectacle, and thats excluding the million plus viewers who found their way, salivating in anticipation, to the local pub to watch the game. The sport of RL is officially more important than anything else that has ever happened in Australian history...and its only getting bigger.

Eat what up? It was still well below the highest afl 5 city ratings, despite being in prime time. 900k sydney siders watched the swans in the GF on a Saturday afternoon.King-Eliagh wrote:WOW! Add to that the AFL GF remains the only non prime time sport to rate in the top few games in Australian history.

2005 AFL Final – 2005 Grand Final: Sydney v West Coast 3,386k, metro only. Regionals would be at least 1.2m!
4.6m beats 4.04m according to my maths KE, what about yours??
Imagine if it was prime time! Imagine if it wasnt averraged over 5 hours!

Wow 4.8 mill peak is huge, the only game that has beaten this SOO decider was the Sydney Swans AFL final back in 2005, but since 2005 AFL has not even got close to the Swans Final let alone 4Million viewers.

Lets add State of Origin: 180,470 (9:30pm – 12:40am) New Zealand Sky to that 4.041 million viewers = 4.220 Million viewers with a peak of about 5.1Million. Wow =D> =D>

Ok, here's why you're a fuckwit. That list is metro only, except the new entries which are this years NRL, which are metro and regionals. Check the metro ratings for the NRL SOO this year. The list is wrong. The rest are correct for metros only.
The AFL GF rates about 1m regionals when the metro is only 2.7m. The 2005 AFL GF rated another 600-700k metro audience only. It would be fair to say, given the swans were involved, the regionals would also be higher. Therefore the total audience would be 4.5-4.6m. :D
Note that th AFL GF is the only program on that list that is not primetime! Thanks for helping me prove my point.
