And look at the highest rated. A Victorian team and a team from New Zealand.

That figure is amazing! I thought the NZers might stuggle to attract viewers. Is that just the Australia numbers or is Sky NZ included? Either way the AFL have got one Mutha of a problem.

no just Australian numbers

add 277K more for NZ ... for a game that didn't start til 10pm NZ time

Most watched on SKY Sport 2
NRL: 200,150 (9:55pm - 11:35pm) Warriors vs. Storm
NRL Post Game: 175,020 (11:35pm - 11:50pm)
NRL Pre Game: 96,990 (9:25pm - 9:55pm)
NRL Under 20: 49,170 (7:15pm - 8:50pm)
NRL Under 20 Pre Game: 36,980 (7:00pm - 7:15pm)
Most watched on PRIME
Prime Evening News: 113,490 (5:30pm - 6:00pm)
NRL: 77,370 (11:30pm - 1:10am) Warriors vs. Storm

so the Australasian TV audience for this final was 2.084Mill

the Warriors have all 3 of their sides in the Grand Final on Sunday &
the NRL Grand Final will kick off at 7pm in NZ ... right in prime time
with next to no competition from the RWC this day with the All Blacks game well n truely over by this time.

this GF will rate its tits off in NZ
an Australasian audience of over 4 Million is near guaranteed

actually Rugby Union is the NZ game of choice , & they are playing the Union World Cup over there ATM
everyone thought a warriors appearance would be lost in NZ as it would be smothered by the RWC being played there
but nothing could be further from the truth
like everyone else in Australia ATM .... they are besotted with the NRL Finals & are going off about their team the Warriors making the NRL Grand Final
Kiwis will take a few hours off from the RWC & sit down with
tens of thousands of Poms ... French , Welsh .... Irish , Americans , Candians .... Sth Africans in NZ for the union World cup , to watch our Grand Final ... what a wonderful showcase for our game

the timing could not be better

Gees Raider, you've gone awfully quiet today. Perhaps the news today was a bit unsettling eh?

Mediaweek are reporting total audiences as follows:

AFL audience - 3.418m (including 788k regional)

NRL audience of 3.255m (including 1.095m regional)

:_<> :_<> :_<> ... hows your maths ?

not real good is it ?

the over all figures for the finals are in

the NRL .... 15,072,000
the AFL .... 13,315,000

a massive overall win to the NRL
just massive

no one said we'd win the ratings here in Australia for the GF
how could we with only 1 Australian side playing ?

but we nearly did regardless of this distinct disadvantage
we just missed getting a win here too

a great result for the NRL in the GF on TV .... truly remarkable
& a staggering result overall for the finals

Australia's Numb one TV Sport ........... the NRL

Well well, it sure is nice to see the final ratings figures here. Again Raider some finde research you are conducting for the talking footy family. We all should appreciate Raiders efforts in collecting and highlighting these figures so we all have that bit more knowledge.

Fine work Raider =D> And I must say a nice analysis to boot. Very perceptive stuff and fascinating to see how RL almost knocked off the AFL GF ratings even with auckland vs manly playing.

I know I've suggested it before but a moderator belt wouldn't look too shabby on you

Again it seems our illustrious 'man who cried wolf' aka Beaussie is completely silent. No doubt he's dumbfounded and is perhaps feverishly flicking through the internet in search of a statistician to somehow make these numbers look better for the AFL.

Once again borgidiom's quote is completely irrelevant

Some ther interesting figures from the NRL website.

More than 3.3million Australian based viewers and a further 692,000 New Zealand based fans. Thats bascially 4 million viewers. So I am assuming that the TV networks made some money from the NZ broadcasters. Another one for the kit bag that AFL didn't have for their negiotations.

Also interesting was that 362K melb viewers tuned in to RL GF, thats more viewers than the AFL GF got from Syd or Bris (individually)
=D>
