RL State of Origin TV Ratings Disaster

Post by Beaussie »

Despite the close result and live coverage in Melbourne/VIC on Channel 9, the ratings demonstrate no progress has been made with rugby league in Victoria. In fact, things have gone backwards. Take note Willis and other league lovers.

State of Origin 1 rated something like 245,000 in Melbourne. Come State of Origin 3 (the decider) live from the Telstra Dome in Melbourne and a mere 173.000 Melbournians tuned in. Clearly the novelty wore off. Wednesday night is supposedly a huge night for the TV networks. That was certainly not the case for Channel 9 in Melbourne/VIC. :(/

RL State of Origin was absolutely thumped by Prison Break on Channel 7.

I wondered why you were so quite on the ratings front Willis. Rugby Leagues showpiece game was a fizzer in Melbourne. Channel 9 were right to decide in the past that SoO should be broadcast after 11pm. Oh and lastly check out those impressive figures for SoO in Adelaide and Perth. :_<>

Channel 7 must be still laughing. :(/

Queensland’s spectacular return to Harvey Norman State of Origin glory captivated television audiences with a peak of 2.4 million viewers tuning in to see the action at Melbourne’s Telstra Dome.

In regional Australia the match peaked at 1,229,000 viewers with a game average of 1,171,000 viewers and a telecast average of 958,000.

Brisbane’s audience increased 16% on the same match last year as they joined the 54,833 fans at the Telstra Dome in savouring every moment.

Brisbane averaged 731,000 for the game itself, 685,000 during the entire telecast with a peak audience of 768,000.

Sydney scored the highest audience share for any network in the city this year.

The peak Sydney audience was 1,102,000 with the game averaging 1,105,000 and the telecast 925,000 (a 3% drop in average viewers for the 2005 decider).

Sorry Willis, but I tend to believe the figures from the actual broadcaster Channel 9 over anything the NSWRL puts out:

http://www.pbl.com.au/media/pdf/2006/20 ... k%2027.pdf

Check out the ratings from PBL/Channel 9 via the link above for a reality check. 173,000 average for Melbourne. :(/

Do the ratings figures mention how many watching the "handy" (thugby leege) were wearing "jandals" & drinking "choice" beer from a "chilly bin"?
Do the ratings mention how many used the handy game to fight insomnia?
Australian footy is growing and within ten years there will be Aussie footy, rugby union and soccer. handy will have been absorbed into rugby union and unskilled meataxes will have to either play a game with skill or become bouncers.
life is good. Freo forever!

You might love the beach but I'll bet your nothing but a bogan westie.....

68,000 watched the Bledisloe in Melbourne 2 weeks ago.. Union has dropped the ball badly in Victoria....

Rugby League is here to stay half-wit...

Just wait until that $90 million a year TV money starts to get put into the game...

The NRL turns over more money than the SANZAR countires put together... =D>

By the way - what skills do AFL players in Perth have other than doing runners from booze buses, getting pissed and crashing into parked cars, pulling knives on their girl friends sisters, and punching out abusive fans at airports....

Gee - what a great culture to be proud of half-wit...

And how much of that money will be eaten up by the continuing repayments to News Ltd for their huge losses associated with rugby league, that were incurred during Super League?
