Last year the game involved shorter quarters so the telecast would have been shorter meaning a higher average. We also need to acknowledge the increase in kayo ratings each yeqr
And the excuses begin lololololololol!!!!!!!!!
Troll away Terry, but this year's games aren't going to average the same as last year given the longer telecast

It is not just the longer telecast though,
there are many other aspects to it as well.

A shorter game will usually be closer score line keeping the viewer on board.
Victoria in lockdown helps
alot of Primetime fixtures by the AFL in 2020 was a huge lift.

AFL will not beat Last years ratings..

like was been stated 16 mins quarters.
Victoria in Lockdown
big amount of games shown in Primetime.

KAYO Figures will be interesting...
I'd say Kayo won't be as high as the NRL. RL seems to be king on Fox!!!! Ch9 might realise they need improve their woeful coverage of the game.
Yep i think KAYO for League will also be King this year too..

AFL coverage on FTA to all states is just too good for teams..

CH9 i dont know where to start.. can they actually recover and get better.

Exactly..

they all denied it and acted how good is this with our ratings

even when shown reasons why still denied it
as if AFL was next level and booming in ratings..

again when showed TV networks put it down to the exact reasons we stated
and why there were lifts, they were putting it into perspective..
yet they still blew it off..

They showed shorter telecasts are a big advantage for average ratings. It's staggering to think the NRL still can't compete with the AFL with such an advantage

I don't even know if they're having a go. I mean why would they broadcast RU directly opposing RL???? Tonight the Waratahs are playing at the same time as the NRL. That's just idiocy.

it was only around 20mins shorter, i would go with the other reasons i stated as a bigger factor

VCTORIA IN LOCKDOWN as Number 1

but yes 20min shorter telecast will increase figures slightly.
in saying a shorter game has a bigger chance of being a closer game.

anyways your back to reality this year with
normal length and no lockdown

i recan channel 9 are being absolute ********* and don't care so much if FTA ratings fall again this year..
will make the deal less enticing where they will try in lock in a 5 year deal..

the Union i see this as maybe a cheap way to try and launch there own Tv Sports base..
while adding sports to it.

but it looks disastrous at the moment.

I am hoping, i really am... that channel 9 lose rights. i just have this feeling they will not.
at the very least 2 FTA networks in the broadcast
this may lift channel 9 into producing better coverage.

Will be interesting to see the tv ratings for Brisbane vs Sydney from the Gabba on Saturday night with Channel 7 broadcasting the match live in Brisbane and Sydney on their primary channel. Have seen no promotions as yet for this on Channel 7. This constant chopping and changing between the primary channel and 7mate in NSW and QLD is a little frustrating. AFL would be very happy with this start. Some good ratings for games which most expected to be either one-sided and predictable, or ho-hum.

Swans and crows both expected to be down the bottom of the ladder beat top 4 sides from last year. Ess and hawthorn fought out a ripper for 2 potentially bottom 4 sides. Premiers Richmond were challenged til the end by the young blues.

why would you think that? the data Kayo previously released for top rating matches last year put the AFL ahead on streaming numbers, and the AFL app had more subscribers than the NRL one.
true points, though they were just the highest rating matches, not an average of matches overall.
being that the NRL have 5 exclusive Games per week.

without the Telstra APP fans may jump more on Kayo as alot more exclusives for NRL.

I may be wrong.
