Womens AFL ratings are pretty much double what the A League is,
with the season being around 60% shorter.

I wonder what value is put on the tv figures it produces

worth around $10-12million maybe to the network rights.

Down on 2020 viewers but still a big win for Channel 7 and 7mate with the network no doubt happy the AFL is back.

Like a knight in shining footy shorts, AFL returned to Seven last night, drawing 668,000 metro viewers and topping the demos.

Seven drew its biggest share in weeks thanks to a Richmond v Carlton match. The numbers include 7mate where it topped multichannels, but overall are down on 2020’s season return just as crowds were being banned from attendance. Last night 50,000 were allowed into the MCG.

By comparison NRL averaged 425,000, across Nine / 9GEM last night.

Last year the game involved shorter quarters so the telecast would have been shorter meaning a higher average. We also need to acknowledge the increase in kayo ratings each yeqr

I'd say Kayo won't be as high as the NRL. RL seems to be king on Fox!!!! Ch9 might realise they need improve their woeful coverage of the game.
