In the end the AFL will need to make a decision, TV revenue vs fan-friendly scheduling. If they prioritised TV cash over fan experience they'd cease local teams being broadcast into local markets and play games during less crowd friendly time slots like 5pm Friday and 7pm Sunday. This would force more fans to subscribe to fox, increasing their revenue.

However, with less FTA exposure and crowd sizes, would this be better for the sport in the long run?

And after 7 rounds the NRL's Foxtel was up 16% on last year ! Wow.

I guess that why theyv'.e got a TV contract that goes past 2004.

Even a 10% increase on Fox is very good. How far is the AFL down on Fox?

it is interesting, fox deal suxs for AFL.. (i can see where they are coming from.) they may ask AFL for some exclusive games.
they will no way get what they have with NRL (5 Exclusives)

currently I would perfer as much FTA presence as possible.
it helps with crowds and interests...
